There’s a variety of terrain along the Boreal Trail, which is a little more challenging for the 3.8 mile distance. In partnership with the city of Kenora, Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls has developed six new multi-day regional canoe route guides that include portages, campsites and detailed maps. Ask about them at the Visitor Information Centre.
The two local provincial parks are definite musts. Look out for American White Pelicans at Caliper Lake Provincial Park. The clear waters here also make for great fishing, while the beach is a great place to relax and enjoy a fall picnic–just remember to bundle up.
