John Swart

John Swart, of Fonthill, Ontario, has been a cycling enthusiast since the 80s; equally happy to throw a leg over a gravel bike, road bike or touring mount. Bicycles are his door to adventure and experiencing new cultures and people. Gravel roads in Chilean Patagonia, drover’s trails in the Scottish Highlands, or the roads of Northern Africa are all good.

Volunteering over the last decade with Niagara Regional Cycling Committee, Pelham Active Transportation, the Freewheelers, Peninsula Paddlers Kayaking Club, Waterfront Trail, and assisting other cycling advocacy groups keeps him in touch with the Ontario cycling community. Swart has published cycling articles for Canadian Press, Canadian Cycling Magazine, Pedal Magazine and Bike Trade Canada, and authors a weekly newspaper column locally in Niagara dedicated to cycling and adventure travel.
