Family-Friendly Things to Do in Timmins

Head to the City with a heart of gold for family fun!

Timmins is full of great family-friendly attractions and activities that will inspire you to make some new BIG memories. With everything from exploring the great outdoors to BIG events, wildlife tours and everything in between, there is no shortage of options in Timmins!

Cedar Meadows

Cedar Meadows Resort & Spa is not only a great place to stay, complete with a fantastic restaurant and spa, but it also features a 100-acre Wildlife Sanctuary that is home to moose, bison, and elk. The whole family can hop on the tractor-drawn wagon to get up close and personal with these amazing animals for an experience like no other!

Neo Laser Tag

Neo Laser Tag is perfect for kids of all ages. They offer a variety of fun activities including laser tag, 9-hole Glow in the Dark Mini-Putt, Bumper Cars, an indoor playground, and the Neo Escape Zone for ages 14 and up. The entire family is sure to have a blast in this indoor family amusement arena.

Timmins Events

All throughout the summer, Timmins is home to many great events perfect for the whole family! Two BIG events to check out are the Summer Concert Series and the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge. Both are jam-packed with activities for all ages.

Go for a Family Hike

There are plenty of trail options in Timmins, so get out and enjoy the fresh air! With everything from easy trails that are 1 kilometre long to more challenging full-day hikes, there’s something for every family.

Nikkie’s Trail is a great option with three different loops ranging from 1 kilometre to 9 kilometres in length. The trail is an interpretive trail with plaques along the way describing the flora and the fauna. There are rest areas along the way as well as picnic tables and an epic viewing platform at Sunset Bay.

Head out on the water for a Family Paddle

With over 500 lakes and rivers in the Timmins area, it’s no doubt that there are plenty of great paddling opportunities to be had, including a variety of family-friendly, easy paddling routes.

Papakomeka Lake is a great 6-kilometre option for easy paddling. The lake is located about 18 kilometres outside of the City, and features a great launching point for your canoe. Up until the 1950s, Papakomeka Lake was home to an active logging route and the remains of boom logs can still be seen in some places.
