Farmers' Markets in Northeastern Ontario

Where to eat fresh and local this summer!

Whether you're a local resident or a visitor from away, a leisurely stroll through a Farmers' Market is one of the best ways to get an authentic "taste" of an area. These vibrant markets bring people together and offer a unique shopping experience where you can indulge in the freshest local foods and high quality artisan products.

We've compiled a list of some of Northeastern Ontario's finest Farmers' Markets, so be sure to visit at least one this season!

North Bay Farmers' Market

Season: Victoria Day Long Weekend to Thanksgiving (May to October)

Hours: Saturdays from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm & Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

The North Bay Farmer's Market has two locations, depending on which day of the week you visit. Saturdays you can visit the market behind the Bus Transit Terminal on the corner of Oak and Wyld Streets, while the Wednesday Market is located at Discovery North Bay on Oak Street. Vendors offer locally produced baked goods, preserves, fruits and vegetables, crafts and jewellery. There's even a caricature artist for those looking for a little extra fun!

Powassan Farmer's Market

Season: May to October

Hours: Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Located on Main Street, the Powassan Farmers' Market is home to a selection of fresh vegetables, beautiful perennials, handmade soaps, jewellery and crafts, and delicious preserves. Barbequed sausage and coffee are also available while you shop!

Powassan Winter Market

Season: November to April - Second Saturday of every month

Hours: Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm @ 250 Clark

Urban Park Market, Timmins

Season: July to October

Hours: Thursdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

Visit Urban Park in the heart of downtown Timmins for some of the freshest local products and meats, artisan goods, homemade breads, and more!

Cochrane Farmers' Market

Season: July to Thanksgiving

Hours: Fridays from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm

Cochrane Farmers' Market, located at Commando Park, has over a dozen local vendors. Shoppers can find organic produce, delectable baked goods, sweet birch syrup, and handmade arts and crafts.

Kapuskasing Farmers' Market

Season: August to October

Hours: Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

The Kapuskasing Farmers' Market is located in the heart of downtown, on Circle Street. Local vendors offer unique arts and crafts, fresh vegetables, tasty preserves, delicious baked goods, farm-fresh meat and much more!

The Market, Greater Sudbury

Season: June to October

Hours: Thursday from June 6 - October 10 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on York Street.  Saturdays from June 1 - October 26 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm Downtown.

Located at the CP/VIA Rail Station on Elgin Street, the Greater Sudbury Market features fresh air, free family entertainment, one-of-a-kind products and wholesome foods for a unique shopping experience. New in 2017 are expanded Thursday night hours at the York Street location across from Bell Park.

NEMI Farmers' Market

Season: May to October

Hours: Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Join the community of Little Current Downtown at the BMO Garage for local produce, baked goods, handmade arts and crafts and more. Tour Little Current's scenic boardwalk, and grab a bite to eat after market.

Manitowaning community heritage market

Season: July & August

Hours: Fridays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Join the community of Assiginack at the Assignack Museum for seasonal produce, local crafts, and most exciting of all--the always changing "7 Minute Side Show" theatre presentation by the Debajehmujig Creation Centre. View the blacksmith shop, pioneer home and more on your trip to the market.

Gore Bay Farmers' Market

Season: May to October

Hours: Fridays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Visit Gore Bay's Farmers' Market Fridays at the waterfront. Shoppers will have their pick of seasonal produce, baked goods, plants, sweet maple syrup and honey, as well as handmade arts and crafts.

Island Summer Market, M'chigeeng (Mindemoya Market)

Season: June to September

Hours: Saturdays from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm

Located at the arena on King Street, the Mindemoya Market is home to approximately 20 vendors. Enjoy entertainment by local musicians while you shop local farm produce, baked goods, jams and preserves, arts and crafts, photography and more!

Riverside Farmers' Market, New Liskeard

Season: June to October

Hours: Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

Located at Riverside Place, the Riverside Farmer's Market offers shoppers musical entertainment as you shop! Fresh meat and produce, homemade preserves, handmade arts and crafts, and fresh baked goods and more are available from local vendors.
