A Guide to Moose Outfitters In Ontario
Ontario is lucky enough to offer an archery and rifle moose season to both residents and non-residents. Each style of hunt gives hunters its own unique perks. The morning mist of an early archery hunt foretells crisp mornings of rifle season just around the corner. Each moose hunting experience is magical in its own right.
Within Ontario, you can hunt in groups or solo, one-on-one with a guide, or even on a self-guided hunt. For non-residents, as long as you are fully licensed to hunt in your own country or province to hunt, you can book your hunt with an outfitter who offers tags.
Please do your research and reach out to outfitters ahead of time if you are in need of a tag, some can be booked several years in advance, however it's worth the wait as the province's tag allotment could take longer.
Ontario moose populations have shown positive growth and stability according to Emilie Kissler of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. “Surveys that we’ve completed recently have been showing some positive signs and stability in the units,” Kissler said in a statement to CTV News in 2024.
Below there are outfitters, both with tags to offer and without located throughout Ontario. Be sure to check out their tag allowances, and reach out to them to confirm availability as soon as possible if you want in on the next season of moose hunting.

The province of Ontario, as a lot know, is massive, taking 24 hours just to drive across, let alone travelling north or south. There is a lot of moose territory, both accessible and remote. Deciding how far you’d like to travel, then choosing the area you’d like to visit and searching for outfitters in that region may be the easiest way to find a hunt that's right for you.
Best of luck on your Ontario moose hunting adventure!
