All You Need to Know About Creating Social Content for The Seven—Northeastern Ontario

Hi! 👋 We're looking for creative folks to collaborate with us on social content. Are you an avid traveller with a niche interest you'd like share with our audience? Keep reading for who, what, where, and how to pitch!

We're looking for content creators to produce video content for use on the Northeastern Ontario social channels, specifically Instagram reels and TikToks, to promote Northeastern Ontario’s partners, locations, and all-round amazing vibes. Here's an easy reference for the types of content we are looking for, the areas where we'd love to have coverage, and a rundown of The Seven's principles, inherent in every piece.

What is The Seven?

The Seven is fun, authoritative, and often has a sense of humour. We steer clear of jargon, consumerism, and elitism, and aim to make our content accessible, informative, and entertaining. Our travel content has a strong sense of place and includes actionable info like: how do I plan a visit here? With all our content, we are opening up a world of possibility for would-be travellers and sharing the adventure, excitement, and joy of a trip to Northeastern Ontario.

Northeastern Ontario is a place where generations of travelers come with their families year after year. For our returning visitors, it’s about tradition. Comfort. Nostalgia. Adventure. Our lakes and waterways and family-owned lodges aren’t a passing fad or trend—they’re timeless. Our goal is to inspire a new generation of travellers to drive north and discover what lies beyond cottage country.

The Seven is built on seven founding principles. Each principle is inclusive, and welcoming of a different traveller demographic.

One-off, single Reels and TikToks

Heading somewhere you think would make a great reel? We're looking for edited, narratively structured, informative and inspirational work. Rate is $250-$350 per reel, depending on complexity, location, and length. We will brand the cover for The Seven, and post on NeOntario channels. Our ideal submission includes:

  • 15-60 second video
  • overall theme (ie: My 5 Fave Hiking Trails around Timmins; Secret Swimming Holes on Highway 17; POV: Best Beach Day at this Provincial Park)
  • long enough cuts to get a feel for the place & vibe
  • interesting text hook for the cover
  • one beautiful photo for the cover
  • location captions or voice-to-text
  • reel emailed with caption information including location, and type of adventure/audience
  • Fun! Inspiration! Personality!

Personality-driven Monthly Series

Have something unique to say and think that potential travellers to Northeastern Ontario will find value in it? Reach out! We're looking for 6-8 monthly contributors with an idea for a monthly series. These will be delivered monthly, at the same time, and regularly scheduled. Content can be shot all in one trip or over several during the year. Package rates start at a base rate of $250-$350 per reel and can increase depending on complexity, locations, timeline, length, etc. Some examples of ideas we'd be interested in:

  • Fun and accessible 4-season fishing content

  1. Link to your socials
  2. Type of content you're interested in
  3. Region(s) you'll be traveling to
  4. One or two sentence pitch including which Principles suit you the most

We are looking for creatives who can deliver integrated article + video combos for the Northern Ontario Travel magazine. Here's a great example. Package rates start at $600 for one 600-word written article with one related, edited reel (approx 30-seconds), and 2-5 high-res photos for use in the published story. (We'd also need a 40-50 word bio and author photo).
