Trip Rendezvous: The Lodge at Pine Cove 

Join French River Adventures for a unique opportunity to experience French River cultural heritage through the eyes of nature interpreter Norm Dokis and the Dokis First Nation Pow Wow.

Stroke, stroke, stroke. For about 2 ½ hours, you’ll be part of an 18-member team paddling a 36-foot Montreal canoe along the historic Voyageur route on the French River.

Along the way, Norm will point out ancient pictographs and will share his knowledge of land and river he loves so much.  After a delicious gourmet picnic lunch, he will escort you to the Dokis First Nation Pow Wow to be entertained by dancers from all over the region.

Created in 2000, French River Adventures builds on years of canoeing, kayaking and hiking experience. They know the French River well and would love to help you discover the French River. They are affiliated with The Lodge at Pine Cove.  They welcome both lodge guests and non-guests alike.

The Ontario Parks award-winning French River Visitor Centre is a must see. Its main exhibit, “Voices of the River,” tells the story of the French River, one of Canada’s earliest travel routes. 

While at the Visitor Centre, you can hike along the edge of the French River Gorge – voted one of Ontario’s UNESCO World Biosphere’s Amazing Places.
