Great Food, Great Beer, Great Neighbourhood

The Madhouse is one of Thunder Bay's most popular pubs

The Madhouse is a great place to talk and relax.

The square building smack at the corner of Bay and Algoma is one of the most popular pubs in Thunder Bay. On weekends the mixed crowds keep the place busy, especially in the evening. The richly coloured décor makes for a great atmosphere.

Madhouse food
The Madhouse is more dedicated to being a great hangout pub, not too concerned about attempting to dazzle you with new gastropub meals, so the menu may be limited, but everything on it is worthwhile and reasonably priced.

The Grilled Apple and Brie Sandwich is a delicious alternative to the usual burger or sandwich. Their most popular dish is the Steak and Goat Cheese Salad. Generous strips of steak are laid upon a bed of salad with tasty goat cheese.

There are a good number of tapas (appetizers), including nachos, sweet potato fries, seafood, chorizo and tostas, coconut shrimp, quesadillas, wings, fish tacos casa loco, calamari and many more.

The Madhouse is known for promoting micro-breweries and has on tap a selection of beers from Ontario including Thunder Bay’s own Sleeping Giant Brewery. Other microbrew options include Steam Whistle (from Toronto) and Hop City Brewery (Brampton).
