In the northern city of Timmins, Ontario, art is all around you. As you walk along our beautiful rainbow-coloured streets, you'll find them home to magnificent statues, murals and many other beautiful works. More than just the City with the Heart of Gold, Timmins also encourages the arts, with offerings for artists and art lovers of all mediums. From outstanding art supply stores to crafting clubs to museums, there is something for everyone looking to experience the art in Timmins or to create some for themselves. Artsie

Owned and operated by Dale Morrish, the Artsie Framing Centre and Supply Store used to be located on Wilson Avenue before having to close the shop for a while due to illness. Now a cancer survivor and committed to pursuing her dreams, Dale Morrish has decided to continue what she started by opening Artsie up again, now at 127 Ninth Avenue.

Artsie offers premium artist's supplies for all mediums including framing services, as well as workshops and art classes for both beginners and professionals looking to improve their skills. Morrish also auctions off a collection of the masterpieces that are made during her classes in order to raise funds for our youth and multiple charities which include the humane society, cancer society, wildlife society and many more as a way to give back to the community. Craft Magic

Inspired to create an arts and crafts destination and encourage visitors to South Porcupine, owners Julie Evans and Marcus Niebler have recently opened the Craft Magic store on 72 Golden Avenue. Featuring an incredible array of yarn and numerous crafting necessities such as sewing needles, knitting needles, crochet hooks, macrame and much more, the Craft Magic store is the perfect place to go when you want to try something new. If you've ever wanted to try a craft project but don't know where to start, if you're looking for some supplies or if you just want to be social and knit a sweater with others, then be sure to stop by Craft Magic and talk to them.

After your visit to Craft Magic, we suggest checking out their other business called Escape from Reality, which is currently located right down the street but will soon be merged. They offer fantastic escape rooms and board games which can be played inside of an old bank vault! NOAR (Northern Original Art Rentals)

For those of you looking for art and want to make your space vibrant, beautiful and refreshed, you can rent a painting from the newly founded Northern Original Art Rentals. Founded by Dale Morrish and Susan Tesluk, it gives business owners in Timmins the opportunity not only to make their space more inspirational and enjoyable but also to support the local artists who create the paintings. The works can be rented for up to two months and can be renewed. Enjoy a variety of art from realism to abstract when choosing from the stunning paintings, which can be rented by contacting them on Facebook or by phone at 705-360-9000. The Porcupine Art Club

A historic club founded over 75 years ago, the Porcupine Art Club offers members of the community a chance to join together every second Thursday at Roy Nicholson Park and pursue their artistic passions. While there is a fee, it is absolutely worth it—benefits include the chance to have their own websites, show their skills in exhibitions, and access to the Porcupine Art Club studio, plus many more perks. The club offers artists a chance to develop and support their careers as an artist as well as the opportunity to join workshops and community improvement projects. The Timmins Museum

Timmins Museum: NEC is located at 325 Second Avenue. It transports visitors back in time through fantastic works of art, culture and the rich history that are all displayed there. It's also the perfect location to shop for, display and even create your own masterpieces, as it has an amazing gift shop which contains various items that are handcrafted by our local vendors and sold by staff who offer friendly and welcoming customer service. They offer some educational tours of the museum which feature exhibits from local artists, as well as the incredible Hollinger House which is located at the museum's entrance. For a creative and artistic summer, be sure to sign you or one of your family members up for one of their fun workshops such as Wonder Wednesdays, which allows kids to explore the world by making a craft related to one part of the world at a time and collect stamps along the way.
