Fantasy Fishing For Walleye

You could be catching up to 100 walleye a day at this remote resort in Vermillion Bay, Ontario!

Could you imagine fishing on a lake, all to yourself for a week, three days or even for a day and catching more than one hundred plus walleyes a day from sixteen to twenty-plus inches?

Only in your dreams, right?

Nope.

This is exactly what happens to guests who vacation with Clark’s Resort and Outpost Air Service located in Vermillion Bay in Northwest Ontario. The walleye fishing is just plain un-believably incredible at this resort's more than twenty-plus outpost locations.

We visited with these folks in mid-July and unfortunately for us due to scheduling and time restraints, did not have the opportunity to experience this fantasy walleye fishing firsthand, we only listened to the many guests that returned to the dock each day via float plane, telling stories of one-hundred to two-plus hundred walleyes caught, each day!

Yes, hundreds of walleyes, each day!

Our visit included fishing on the main lake, Cedar Lake with local guide John Jacobs who knows the northern lakes inside out as we fished for walleye on main lake reefs, humps and rock piles with small jigs and minnows. We caught a variety of walleye from fourteen to twenty-plus inches and had a blast, but I can guarantee you, the NEXT time we visit with the Clark’s we are going to the Fantasy Fishing for walleye at the outpost lakes.

About Karl Kalonka

It's possible Karl's love for fishing began as early as the age of five. His parents took the kids on weekend trips across Ontario fishing for panfish, catfish, and bass. "I started with a bobber and worm from the time I was five years old," says Karl. These days, he has the enviable task of doing what he loves for a living, travelling across Ontario fishing, filming and producing two outdoor series, Extreme Angler and Crappie Angler TV.
