JP Braaaper – The Face of the World’s Best Snowmobile Destination

This lifelong sledhead is helping local businesses become more snowmobile-friendly.

JP who? Yes, JP Braaaper is his name and snowmobile expertise is his game. As Northern Ontario’s ultimate sled head, JP lives and breathes all things snowmobile. As a Franco Ontarian from Cochrane, JP grew up on the back of a 440 Skiroule. “Instead of having essential oil diffusers around the house growing up, my parents ensured we kids got healthy doses of 2 stroke smoke out in nature.”

Fast forward to the present day, Mr. Braaaper himself has recently achieved his childhood dream of sharing his winter passion of snowmobiling in Northern Ontario. He is the ambassador for the World's Best Snowmobile Destination – Snowmobile Friendliness Series. “I always knew that someday I would be a social media celebrity on My Space.”

You may already recognize JP from the epic snowmobile safety video dropped earlier this season during snowmobile safety week. If you haven’t watched it yet, check it out here. We promise you will be entertained from start to finish while learning great safety tips from the man himself.

Now as the face of the World’s Best Snowmobile Destination, Mr. Braaaper has been working with local businesses, giving them his tips and tricks on how to be snowmobile friendly through a video series he created. “I consider myself a snowmobile fashionista and trendsetter. I am always wearing the latest, most high-tech gear on my rides. I’m what you would call a snowmobile aficionado, which makes me appeal to the local businesses as I know what I’m talking about.”

Just like Northern Ontario’s thousands of kilometres of perfect trails, thanks to our hardworking snowmobile clubs (tip of the helmet), JP Braaaper is striving for that same snowmobile perfection with local businesses. “I know what to look for in a business to make them super snowmobile friendly. Take wi-fi as an example. We riders all need to share our adventures with those back home as fast as possible. Good wi-fi is a must to get out photos on the interweb."

If you’ve ever parked your sled underneath a snowmobile-only parking sign or walked into a restaurant and placed your helmet and mitts on a drying rack, it’s easy to understand what JP Braaaper is trying to do. “Simple acts of snowmobiler kindness are remembered and that’s what keeps sledders coming back year after year.”

Check out JP Braaaper’s snowmobile friendly video series featuring four videos focussing on accommodations, restaurants, repairs shops/gas stations, and communities:

The ultimate goal of the World’s Best Snowmobile Destination is to create the highest quality, most memorable snowmobile experience possible for you.  It’s time to start planning your Ride the North adventure and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Mr. Braaaper himself on the trails. Happy sledding and in the words of JP himself, braaap on people!
