Gloria’s Restaurant (469 Bouchard St.)
Open Monday-Saturday 6:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday's 8:00am-4:00pm
Gloria’s has been a city favorite since it opened its doors in 1952 and is 100% family owned to this day. Don’t let its age fool you though, Gloria’s Restaurant has kept up with the times and has a modern, clean cut feel. The owner, Bruno, is a professionally educated and trained chef that takes such pride in his family business that he has personally paid for the formal training of 8 Gloria’s Restaurant cooks. It’s no wonder they were voted Best Breakfast by the Readers Choice Awards. They haven’t let that go to their heads though. Gloria’s is a warm, welcoming spot where many of their customers are known by name. They’re also incredibly community oriented and believe in giving back whenever possible. Every year, there is one Saturday in March where all proceeds from their #2 breakfast special go to support the Sudbury Canadian Mental Health Association and another Saturday in September where they do the same to support Sudbury’s own Terry Fox Run. If you’re visiting on the weekend, be sure to try the Saturday Special: freshly made crepes served with homestyle crème anglaise & filled with strawberries and bananas, garnished with real whipped cream and syrup on the side.
Eddie’s Restaurant (1769 Regent St.)

Not only is Eddie’s Restaurant a hit with the locals but their South End location and large trailer-friendly back parking lot makes them an ideal stop for anyone passing through town on Highway 69 south. They’re also right across from the Holiday Inn, giving guests of the hotel a chance to experience Sudbury’s small town charm firsthand. Jak’s Diner (1100 Barrydowne Rd.)

If you’re looking for the classic family owned Mom and Pop diner feeling then you’ll love Jak’s. It’s a small, intimate setting where the owners will warmly welcome you when you walk through the door. While its not located within or beside any of the city’s hotels, you will find the diner directly across from the city’s most popular shopping mall - The New Sudbury Centre. Its convenient location pulls in patrons from all around the city who can all agree - Jak’s breakfasts are hot, fresh, and big. The Doghouse Sports Bar and Eatery (Azilda Location only - 25 Aldege St.)

Aside from their regular all day breakfast, you can join them on Sunday mornings for a breakfast buffet that not only includes your standard bacon and eggs, but also unconventional (yet genius) additions like chicken wings and perogies. For the last 12 years they have been offering a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with a real hometown vibe. Locals know this is a hidden gem, so don’t let the short drive up the road prevent you from enjoying this mean breakfast.
The Motley Kitchen (70 Young St.)

Conveniently located in the Clarion Hotel, Hardrock42 Gastropub has Sudbury written all over it. The name was inspired by an old photo of a banner that was welcoming hardrock miners to Elm Street Sudbury in 1942, which speaks to the respect owners Jason and David have for Sudbury’s rich heritage. These guys know what Sudbury looks for when it comes to good food. They also have a passion for using quality Ontario grown ingredients, specifically local when possible. Known for their unique menu options, breakfast is no different; while they offer the classics they also have interesting and enticing dishes like Bailey’s French Toast, Morning Glory Poutine, and a Mushroom Brie Benedict.
Rudy’s Restaurant (483 Lasalle Blvd.)
Opens at: 7:30 am (8:00 am on Saturday and Closed on Sunday)
Rudy’s was originally known to the city for serving some of the best ice cream in town but transitioned into a full-fledged restaurant in the early 1960s. They serve up hot, made to order breakfasts all day long, and pride themselves on the strong relationship they have with the regulars who visit each day. Wait times are quoted as being some of the shortest in town and service is always with a smile. The restaurant has 2 dining areas, one quieter and more relaxed, the other more bright and cheery, which makes it an ideal stop for both diners with children and diners looking for a relaxing quiet breakfast.
