Landing the Big Fish at June Derby In Red Rock

Fisherman get ready to experience landing the big fish from Lake Superior at the 17th Annual Trout Derby in Red Rock, Ontario the weekend of June 7 and 8.  The cool Lake Sperior waters in Nipigon Bay for this early June derby should make for great fishing as the trout are expected to be active for the Derby weekend.

The Derby put on by the
Red Rock Fish and Game Club offers great early registration prizes if boats register prior to May 21. The Early Registration Prize is drawn Friday night of the derby weekend at the Red Rock Fish and Game Club House.

There will be a pre-derby registration Friday June 6 2 pm to 7 pm at the Fish and Game Club House. Fishing times on Saturday June 7 are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Sunday, June 8 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. The registration fee is $50.00 per angler. The derby offers thousands in cash and prizes over the weekend. A limit of one Lake Trout may be entered per day.

Boat slips are available at the marina but you need to reserve your space early. Those entered in the derby will have free boat launch and camping for the weekend. The Marina also offers gas and diesel fuel, propane exchange, shower and washroom facilities in the new Red Rock Marina Centre. Red Rock is only an hour’s drive from Thunder Bay; the community boasts a new waterfront located in the heart of Nipigon Bay. The Red Rock Marina Centre has washroom, shower and laundry facilities, restaurant, patios, gift shop and Interpretive Centre. The Marina features three modern piers with a capability of docking 82 vessels with deep water access from the Simpson Channel. You will feel safe and secure docking your boat in Red Rock as the marina has a state of the art security system and secure lock-up facilities.
