If you are home for the holidays visiting family and friends in Thunder Bay and are looking for a unique way to ring in the New Year then make your New Year’s Eve something extra magical and unique this year with a visit to Fort William Historical Park. Join in on a Thunder Bay tradition at the New Year’s Eve Family Frolic Wednesday December 31st, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
The New Year’s Eve Family Frolic, a true Northwestern Ontario experience, offers an impressive number of fun indoor and outdoor activities for everyone in the family to enjoy! There will be live music and entertainment on both indoor and outdoor stages for all to enjoy.
There are plenty of outdoor activities for the kids and parents to take part in. How about a whizz down the sliding hill; heritage games; visit the farm animals; crafts; a dark room; live entertainment; and much more fun as you enjoy the warmth of the bonfires – the options are endless! And don’t forget to sign the New Year’s Resolution board.
To cap off the evening of celebrations, everyone will gather in the Main Square just before 8:00 pm for the spectacular fireworks show. This allows the young ones to join in on a memorable New Years Eve celebration while still offering enough time to make it home for a good night’s rest.
Admission for the Family Frolic is $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for seniors, students and youth, and free for all children ages 5 and under. All prices include HST. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase, while guests are also welcome to warm up and enjoy a tasty dinner in at the Canteen Restaurant on site. Parking is free and there is a free shuttle service between the Visitors’ Centre and the Historic Site.
