Pride Events in Northern Ontario 2024

Northern Ontario celebrates its 2SLGBTQI+ community this summer. Here's your calendar for everything Pride-related in the region.

Pride Month is here! Events for 2024 are in full swing and it's time to plan your celebrations. Here's a list of pride month celebrations of 2SLGBTQI+ rights, freedoms, equality, and visibility in our Northern Ontario communities.

When is Pride Month?

Pride is celebrated in June, but Ontario pride events happen all summer and into September. 

Upcoming Pride Events in Northern Ontario

May 27-June 30, 2024             
Thunder Pride             
Thunder Bay, ON

Thunder Pride celebrates with a full month of Pride-themed fun and festivities, beginning the week of May 27. Usher in the month with a Pre-Pride Drag Queen Paint Night on May 30 followed by the Flag Raising Ceremony on May 31. There will be drag shows, trivia nights, the Annual Two-Spirit Pow Wow, and lots more, with the Rise Up Pride Parade and Pride Festival happening on June 15. May 17-June 8, 2024          
West Nipissing Pride        
West Nipissing, ON   

West Nipissing Pride begins May 17 with their Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia in Sturgeon Falls, then the Flag Raising Ceremony on June 3 and Pride Parade and afterparty on June 8. Follow along on their Facebook page for further event updates and to see their event calendar. 

June 15, 2024          
Borderland Pride Passport to Pride March  
Fort Frances, ON   

Join Borderland Pride for the 2024 edition of their famous Passport to Pride March —the only 2SLGBTQIA+ Pride March in the world that crosses an international border. Bring your signs, bring your rainbow swag, and bring your passport! This Pride parade is for pedestrians, cyclists, wagons, and strollers only (no cars or trucks), and follows a 1-mile route, using sidewalks, from downtown International Falls, MN to downtown Fort Frances, with refreshments to follow. Dryden Pride Month        
Dryden, ON      

Dryden kicks off their Pride month with a flag-raising ceremony on June 3, and their opening ceremony on June 8. Keep an eye on their events listings on Facebook here, or view their calendar to catch more fun events.

Kenora Pride      
Kenora, ON  

You're invited to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ Pride in Kenora this summer with a series of fun pride events scheduled through the month of June, beginning with the Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on June 4th. Also planned are a Drag Brunch Fundraiser, Pride Paint Night, Queeries Trivia Night, and Pride Night Bowling, just to name a few, as well as the big Kenora Pride March & Community BBQ at Rotary Peace Park on June 22. Temiskaming Shores Pride          
New Liskeard, ON

Join Pride Temiskaming Shores to celebrate on June 22! They'll be holding a Pride Day Parade starting at Riverside Place in New Liskeard, a Vendors' Fair featuring local artists and Queer Beer at the Horne Granite Curling Club. Check out their Facebook for details!

July 2024                
Sault Pride Pridefest                
Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Sault Pridefest is celebrated throughout July, with the Rotary Day Parade scheduled for July 20, and the Flag Raising and Pride Walk on July 21. Other Pridefest events with dates to be announced are Bears, Beers, and Bingo, Pride Stride & Ride, Family Queeraoke, Out of the Closet Clothing Swap, APH Healthy Sexuality Clinic, Rainbow Coffeehouse, Drag Me to Pride, and a Rainbow Brunch. July 8-14, 2024          
Fierté Sudbury Pride          
Sudbury, ON

Kick off a fun-filled week in Sudbury this year with the Flag Raising July 8th at 10 AM, and the Opening Ceremony at 6 PM, with the Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer Art Exhibition to follow at 7 PM. July 20, 2024             
PRIDE Manitoulin Colour Run        
Manitoulin Island, ON

Show your colours at Pride Manitoulin's 1K/5K Colour Run/Walk/Wheel as you turn your (provided) all-white Manitoulin Pride T-shirt into radiant shades of the rainbow as you dash through coloured powder. It's a fun, free event with music and a barbecue to follow. Register on their website, or check their Facebook Page for other Pride events planned in the community throughout the summer.    

August 8-11, 2024             
PRIDE Manitoulin             
Manitoulin Island, ON

Join Pride Manitoulin for a whirlwind of festivities, including a lively parade, captivating performances, family fun, and so much more! Check back for updates on their Facebook page and more about the events. 

September 9-15, 2024             
Fierté Timmins Pride       
Timmins, ON

Fierté Timmins Pride plans to deliver a fantastic celebration and entertainment including a proclamation and flag-raising ceremony, the 11th Annual Pride Week Rally and Parade, Drag Bingo, an inclusive drag show suitable for all ages and substance-free, and an electrifying 19+ drag show. North Bay Pride Festival             
North Bay, ON

Past Pride Events

May 27-June 28, 2023          
Elliot Lake Pride          
Elliot Lake, ON

Elliott Lake will be kicking off their Pride festivities a little earlier than others. Starting from late May, you’ll find a full month of Pride-themed events celebrating this town’s LGBTQI+ community. First, there will be the Serpent River First Nation parade and BBQ on May 27, then a flag-raising ceremony on Monday and a men’s brunch on Tuesday and a women’s brunch on Wednesday. Throughout June you can attend a purge presentation, karaoke night, “Blingo,” Pride motorcade and even a Second Chance prom. Learn more here.

June 1, August 4-13, 2023          
Sioux Lookout Pride          
Sioux Lookout, ON

The municipality is hosting the pride flag and declaring June as 2SLGBTQ+ Pride Month on June 1 at 10 am. During the Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival, Sioux Lookout will be having its annual Pride March—check back for events and information on the Blueberry Festival website

June 1-24, 2023          
Dryden Pride Month          
Dryden, ON          

Starting with a Pride Your Pet and a flag-raising ceremony on June 1, the Dryden Pride will let you include your furry friends in the celebration. You can also attend a Dryden Pride Celebration on June 24. Get more info about all the activities by clicking here.

Fierte Timmins Pride          
Timmins, ON

The flag-raising and Pride proclamation will open the 2023 Pride celebrations in this northern Ontario town. Take part in these events on the steps of Timmins City Hall. This will be their 10th annual Pride rally and parade. Keep up to date with their plans here.

Borderland Pride          
Fort Frances, ON and International Falls, MN

This cross-border Pride organization has a host of events planned for June. The Passport to Pride March will be June 10 at International Falls/Fort Frances. Or check out SPLASH! Drag Show + Splash Park Fundraiser also on June 10. Follow their Facebook page for more events and updates. 

June 1-29, 2023          
Thunder Pride          
Thunder Bay, ON          

Get ready for a jam-packed month of Pride activities in Thunder Bay this year. The first three days, from June 1-3, you can enjoy a sunrise ceremony, a flag raising and a pool party. This will be followed by a Pride awareness breakfast, glitter ball and an allyship town hall by June 15. In the second half of the month, you can take part in a march, a street fest, Pride After Dark, storytime, and a retro dance party. Closing out a colourful Pride month, don’t miss the drag show on June 25 and the two-spirit pow wow on June 29. See all the details of Thunder Bay’s busy Pride itinerary here.

June 10, 2023          
West Nipissing Pride Parade          
West Nipissing, ON          

This will be an important year for Pride in West Nipissing. The community will be holding its first Pride Parade on June 10. They’re getting started on planning now and are looking for more residents to sign up for a float. You can learn more about the parade or get involved here.

June 16, 2023          
Temiskaming Shores Pride          
New Liskeard, ON

The second annual Temiskaming Shores Pride March will take place on the waterfront in New Liskeard on Friday, June 16 at 7:00 pm. According to the organizers, details are still being finalized, but the plan is to begin and end at the ballpark end of the waterfront boardwalk. Come for a casual, fun evening filled with happy people.

July 10-15, 2023          
Fierté Sudbury Pride          
Sudbury, ON

On the weekend of July 8-9, organizers will be holding a Two Spirit Powwow. Pride Week itself follows the Powwow, beginning Monday, July 10 through Sunday, July 16. The main events, Pride in the Park and the Pride March, will be on Saturday, July 15. Check the Fierté Sudbury Pride Facebook page for more details. 

July 16-30, 2023          
Sault Pride          
Sault Ste. Marie, ON

From July 16 to July 30, there will be several Pride activities in the Sault. Start the festivities with the Rotary parade on July 15. Then on the 16th take part in the Loud & Proud Family Fun Day from 1 pm to 4 pm after the Flag Raising and Pride Walk which is from 12 pm to 1 pm. From the 18th onward there will be a series of fun events, including a painting evening, karaoke night, clothing swap, fashion show, youth bowling, a boat cruise dance, and Pride Stride & Ride followed by a cool-down coffee house. North Bay Pride          
North Bay, ON
