Here are the best things to do on Family Day in Thunder Bay! 

1. Voyageur Winter Carnival

Find your way through the snow maze at Thunder Bay's Voyageur Winter Carnival.

Held at Fort William Historical Park, the annual Voyageur Winter Carnival is a Thunder Bay tradition. This three-day event is a weekend full of winter fun for everyone! Bundle up and come out to enjoy a giant snow maze, tubing and sliding hills, skating, winter games and activities, carnival games and contests, as well as live indoor and outdoor entertainment and so much more! Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students, seniors and youth, and children under five are welcome free. Discounted weekend passes are available as well.

For an additional fee, there are also Hovercraft Rides!!

2. Snow Day on the Waterfront

Prince Arthur’s Landing is the place to be on Family Day. Come down to this free event and try a ton of different winter activities: kick sledding, snowshoeing, skating, and much more. Also take a walk around and check out all of the amazing snow sculptures created by local artists.

3. Ski Thunder Bay

Thunder Bay is home to two alpine ski areas (Loch Lomond and Mount Baldy) and hundreds of kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails including those at Kamview Nordic Centre, Lappe Nordic Ski Club, Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and Centennial Park 

4. Free Ice Fishing Weekend

Family Day weekend is one of only two weekends a year that Ontario residents can legally fish anywhere in the province without a valid license. Get out and try ice fishing this winter.
