Freaky Friday in Thunder Bay - The Hunger 9
"The Hunger" has become much more than just a Halloween party, it’s now considered one of the largest parties in Thunder Bay. A massive music event and performance spectacle, the Hunger 10 has added a ninth venue and will take over the entire downtown Waterfront District on Halloween Night - Oct 31, 2015.
The Hunger has grown year after year. Beginning with only two venues, now at 9, the numbers of attendees has risen by thousands over the years also, with well over 4000 people in attendance last year and even more expected for Hunger 10.
The largest fundraiser for Definitely Superior Art Gallery (defsup) and the Contemporary Arts in Thunder Bay, this event does much more for the community than simply, facilitate a wildly entertaining evening.
There are prizes, prizes and more prizes, including a best costume at each venue. Be sure to visit them all: Crocks, Black Pirates Pub, The Foundry, The Sovereign Room, Gargoyles, A Little To The Left, Red Lion Smokehouse and Hell (Hell is a once-a-year, 10000 sqft experience inside the defsup building. The largest venue of them all. Be sure to go to Hell).
This year’s Hunger will feature 58 performance acts, 44 bands & DJ’s featuring 235 performers at 9 different venues, all within walking distance of each other – for only one entry fee - $15.
The list of venues and acts can be found on the defsup website. A “multi-pass” flyer with a complete schedule of performances, times and venues will be available at each venue upon entry. Your one wristband will get you into every event and every venue. And a bit of advice: there are no advanced tickets available and venues can fill up, so don’t be late. You don’t want to miss a thing.
While the venues and the performances are sure to entertain, a large concentration of fun happens on the street walking between venues. This is where you may walk past a ghost, a fairy, a fireman, a zombie, a man dressed as a hotdog (possibly even a hotdog dressed as a man) and many things you can’t comprehend or even imagine without seeing it with your own eyes.
So get your costume together and get downtown this Friday. This is the party of the year and you don’t want to miss out.
