Get Fired Up for Tasty Treats

It's a full weekend of entertainment and great food in Thunder Bay's Waterfront District.

Get ready to treat your taste buds to the most savory, lip-smacking, barbeque slathered food you've experienced all summer when Ribfest returns to Thunder Bay this weekend August 25, 26, and 27.  It's three full days of savory food and great entertainment in the Waterfront District.

Rib eaters and meat lovers alike will be pleased to hear that this popular event is back in
Thunder Bay! Get out and take part in what should be a repeat of last year's delicious event with full schedule of entertainment Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The main stage area is in the Park St. parking lot of the Gateway Casino with events also taking place on Red River Road. between Court St and Cumberland.

Serving Ribs

Halfway Motors is thrilled to bring back this delicious event to the downtown District. With an attendance of just over 25,000 for the each of the past few years, this year's Ribfest is expected to draw large crowds again.

Jack The Ribber

So bring your wet naps and a big appetite as guests can expect to find an astounding selection of meat to feast on over the weekend. Ribfest brings together four talented Ribber teams from Southern Ontario who are all craving to win the Best Ribs Title. Among the competitors returning include Jack the Ribber and Ribs Royale. Ribs, chicken, and pulled pork are among the favorite dishes offered, and guests who attended last year will know why.

A BBQ Extravaganza

This three-day BBQ-extravaganza is truly an event not to miss! Not only does Ribfest offer mouth-watering good food but there is also a large assortment of musical guests lined up to perform throughout the weekend! Good food and good music, but wait—the excitement does not stop there...

Other exciting events planned include the following on Saturday August 26:

  • 9 am: Equipment World Cross Fit Challenge
  • 1 pm: First Canadian Strong Man Competition
  • 1 pm: Fat Guys Auto Parts Kub Car Races
  • 1 pm: Sysco BMX Challenge
  • 1 pm: Taranis Excavator Challenge

Red RIver rumble – A Showcase of Power

The Red River Rumble Motorcycle Show sponsored by Canadian Tire and the Red River Rumble Car Show sponsored by Autohome will take place on Sunday, August 27, along Cumberland Street.

Trophies will be handed out to the top 10 bikes/vehicles as voted on by fellow entrants. And, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite bikes/vehicles for the "People's Choice Award" sponsored by CARSTAR and EXCALIBUR MOTORCYCLE WORKS with each winner receiving a $500 cash prize. People's Choice Award ballots are available for $2 each,with all proceeds donated to OUR KIDS COUNT.

This year’s special guest will be Rachel DeBarros from TV’s All Girls Garage on Velocity Network (Discovery). It’s a chance for fans of the show to meet and greet Rachel on both Saturday and Sunday.
