Canada’s Top U18 Curlers Are Headed to Timmins

This winter, Timmins welcomes the Canadian Under-18 Curling Championships, drawing 42 elite youth teams from across Canada to Northern Ontario. Representing every province and territory, these young athletes arrive with provincial titles behind them and national ambitions ahead.

The championships are hosted at the McIntyre Community Centre, where Timmins once again showcases its ability to adapt and innovate. During the event, the hockey arena is transformed into a five-sheet championship curling rink, creating a dynamic setting that allows fans to move easily between games and follow teams throughout the tournament.

The venue’s central location and ample free on-site parking make it accessible for families, teams, and spectators, while nearby hotels, restaurants, and shops keep everything close at hand.

U18 Curlers

The Canadian Under-18 Curling Championships were first established in 2017 as Canada’s official national youth curling championship, building on earlier international youth competition.

Over its brief but meaningful history, the event has become a key stepping stone for young athletes within Curling Canada’s athlete development and high-performance pathway, with many competitors going on to higher-level national championships.

Timmins previously hosted the championships in 2021, earning positive feedback from athletes and coaches—a reputation that helped secure the return of the event for 2026.
