The BOATsmart! Must-Do List for Summer

Check out what's got BOATsmart!'s resident boating enthusiasts excited about getting out on the water in Ontario this summer!

Despite the seasonality of boating, the BOATsmart! team goes hard all year round! Outdoor enjoyment is kind of our mantra, so we make use of the cold white stuff when our boats head into winter storage. But – with boating on the brain even when we’re shoveling snow, it should come as no surprise that summertime in Ontario is where it’s at for our staff! With our Head Office nestled in the Kawartha region, just slightly south of the Muskokas, we make sure to take advantage of the Ontario lakes every weekend . . . .aaaand we’ve been known to occasionally hit the water after work for a wake surfing session! Check out what the crew at BOATsmart! is looking forward to this summer:

"I can't wait for the good weather to arrive so I can get out for a season of wake surfing and slalom skiing. As spokesperson for BOATsmart!, I'm also fortunate to have the opportunity to boat on some truly amazing waterways across Canada. From Lake Okanagan to the Muskokas, the best time of year for me is when the office is on the water!"

Cameron Taylor, President and CEO, BOATsmart!

“I’m excited to drive up highway 169 towards Washago with a SUP board on the roof of my car! I’ll be en route to the cottage on Lake Couchiching every weekend this summer to do some stand-up paddling and re-connect with my old buddies on ‘Cooch’!”

Simone Kenney, Business Operations Coordinator, BOATsmart!

"Can't wait to watch my boys progress their wake boarding and wake skating skills and see if they can clear the wake this summer, along with taking ever-classic sunset ‘putter’ tubes on Pencil Lake in the Kawarthas!”

“I’m excited for the Stoney Lake Regatta and the Irwin Inn’s ‘Island Fish Fry’ that happens every Thursday on Stoney Lake! A Temagami fishing trip is definitely on my family’s to-do-list this summer! We’ve rented a cottage and plan on reelin’ in some big Ontario pickerel!”

Lindsey Jeremiah, Educational Programs Coordinator, BOATsmart!

"For me, it's all about the first cast before sunrise. I'm already excited about spring, summer and fall fishing in the Kawarthas. The boat and gear are readied for early mornings on Rice Lake and Pigeon Lake. I'm even looking forward to trying my hand at fly fishing this season. Summer can't come soon enough!"

Mat Bloom, Lead Developer, BOATsmart!

“I can't wait for hot summer days to go canoe-fishing with my hubby and our pup on Rice Lake. Oh, and of course looking forward to those BOATsmart! team wake surfing days out on Chemong Lake!”

Tanya Wakelin, Quality Control and Education Manager, BOATsmart!

“I have the best memories of camping at Algonquin Park as a child with my dad on Lake of Two Rivers. The first smell of the Algonquin forest upon arriving always made the long drive worth it. I can't wait for my daughter to experience camping with her parents there and to experience the beach, the canoeing, the campfires, the scenic Algonquin trails and watching moose families from the side of the road.”

Chris Coles, Illustrator, BOATsmart!

“I’m excited to hear about all the great Canadian boating moments during our Coast-to-Coast summer tour...and doing a little wake surfing myself!"

Sarah Hood, In-Field Marketing Coordinator, BOATsmart!

“I’m super excited for the BOATsmart! 10-year anniversary party this year! Can’t wait for our whole team to have a weekend away on the Lake of Bays in beautiful Muskoka!”
