Marina Spotlight: A Guide to Wright's Marina in Georgian Bay

This full-service marina in Britt, Ontario, celebrates 75 years of service and amazing hospitality in 2025.

Wright’s Marina has been a community staple in the town of Britt, Ontario. Just four kilometres from Georgian Bay by water, Wright’s Marina is a lively community hub and a popular spot with boaters.

The marina is owned by Kelly Hindson of Hindson’s Marina, located in Penetanguishene, and St. Amants Waterfront Inn and Marina, located in Britt. The Hindson family is dedicated to delivering the same historic level of hospitality offered by the Wright family. Before the ownership change in 2021, Wright’s Marina was owned and operated by Kerrie Lacey’s (Wright) Family since 1950. To say the marina has a lot of history is an understatement.

Where to Stay in Britt, Ontario

Wright’s Marina now offers four housekeeping cabins for the 2025 season. Two cabins, George’s House and Net Shed are four-season getaways, while the Bunkies are three-season.

George’s House has four bedrooms, one full and one half bath, a newly updated chef's kitchen, and a large family-size handmade table. The original home of the Wright’s Marina owners where they raised their family, it also features a screened in porch and sitting area outside with a fireplace and BBQ.

The Net Shed, is another waterfront three-bedroom cabin with a king suite on the upper floor with its own half bathroom. The two rooms downstairs have queen-size beds and another bathroom. You’ll want to spend time in its remodelled open concept kitchen, living and dining room with a fireplace, but the wrap-around porch is bound to call you outside for morning coffee. This waterfront home also has its own dedicated BBQ just as George’s House does.

The three-season bunkies are absolutely adorable and each accommodates 4 guests. Offering breathtaking views high above the channel, these bunkies are in close proximity to one another, the perfect setting for large groups if you happen to be travelling as a large family. They’re also private enough for separate parties, too.

These charming and comfortable accommodations have everything you need and include a lot of the amenities found at the Marina. All you need to do is bring your towels and food, but don’t miss checking out the local restaurant.

Nearby, sister marina, St. Amants Waterfront Inn and Marina also offers bright and clean hotel rooms and weekly rental cottages and a seasonal RV Park to use as a homebase to explore the area and Georgian Bay.

St. Amants has the only grocery store between Killbear and Killarney for boaters, a general store, LCBO, gas station, restaurant and weekly cottage rentals as well. All guests and Wright’s Marina customers can request free shuttles to the services available at St. Amants Waterfront Inn and Marina.

What To Do: A Boater's Guide

  • Aside from Killarney Provincial Park and having Georgian Bay and all of its hidden gems at your fingertips, you can also take a small drive to explore Recollet Falls in French River Provincial Park.

  • Visit Byng Inlet Lighthouse close to the channel mouth while you search for fish on your finder to come back to for the evening bite.

  • For anglers, walleye, northern pike, muskie, and smallmouth bass are the main species you can catch right in the channel. Salmon and lake trout are found in Georgian Bay. You can book a fishing guide or plan a DIY fishing trip with boat rentals or your own vessel.

  • Grab an ice cream cone and walk along the shorelines or have a sunset cruise. Paddle the channel upriver until you reach the faster-moving water coming from the Magnetawan River.

  • While you’re visiting Wright’s Marina, be sure to ask if there are any must-see spots on the bay and in the channel. The local secrets of the area may surprise you.

2025 Events at Wright's Marina

This year, Wright’s Marina and St Amants Waterfront Inn and Marina are joining forces to bring a Farmers and Crafters Market free to local vendors as just one of the ways they are celebrating 75 years of operation this season. They hope to also have live music and BBQs, with hot dogs and hamburgers for attendees.

Be sure to inquire about the upcoming tournaments planned for 2025 including a Bass Tournament on July 19 and a Pike Tournament on August 16.

On July 1, 2025 there will be the annual Canada Day Boat Parade. Be sure to inquire about how to join or where the “best seats” in the harbour are to spectate.

August 9, 2025 is Community Day in Britt, where you can get your face painted, enjoy BBQ, peruse local artisan booths, take in live music and win prizes.

Britt also offers a lot of winter carnivals and festivities, including tobogganing days throughout the snowy season!
