Temagami Outdoors & Ket Chun Eny Lodge on Lake Temagami 

Temagami’s ice bungalows deliver that quintessential experience of sleeping right on the lake and fishing from sunrise to sundown. Temagami Outdoors operates Ket Chun Eny Lodge, a private island base on Lake Temagami that combines classic cabin stays with on-ice adventures. The lake’s complex structure — deep basins, long arms and countless islands — supports excellent winter fishing for walleye, lake trout and northern pike. Bam’s Tours Ice Bungalows on Lake Nipissing 

Lake Nipissing’s shallow, fertile waters turn into one of Ontario’s busiest ice fishing lakes each winter and Bam’s Tours is one of the operators that makes it easy for visitors to enjoy it without stress. Hearty heated ice bungalows (with bunk beds, stoves and washroom facilities) can sleep groups of anglers for overnight trips, and daily huts are available too. Expect to target walleye, pike, perch, whitefish and burbot, with plenty of free public parking and easy access points around the lake. North Bay and Callander nearby also offer full-service accommodations and great food when you’re off the ice.

Manitoulin Sport Fishing Charters in South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island

Winter fishing around Manitoulin Island is quieter than peak summer, but that’s part of its charm. Heading out with Captain Moe from Manitoulin Sport Fishing Charters — located in the South Baymouth marina — opens up the inland lakes and the North Channel of Lake Huron, where rainbow trout, whitefish and perch thrive in crystal-clear water. For winter anglers, Moe also offers ice fishing opportunities. Even beyond fishing, Little Current and surrounding communities provide a cozy place to base your stay with restaurants and local services nearby.

Dunn Right Outfitters on Lake Abitibi

Farther north around Cochrane and Lake Abitibi, Dunn Right Outfitters combines guided fishing with simple lodge accommodation at Lake Abitibi Lodge overlooking Dunn Lake. The lake itself is known for its early, solid ice and good winter walleye and northern pike action making it a worthy pick for anglers who want backcountry vibes but still enjoy a cozy base. Classic ice fishing trips and gear rentals are available, and the region’s snowmobile access adds to off-lake adventure options.

Panache Bay Marina on Panache Lake

Panache Bay Marina isn’t an ice fishing outfitter in the traditional sense, but it deserves a mention thanks to its easy access and proximity to Sudbury. Anglers heading here can use the Panache Bay Marina as a convenient staging area with gas, snacks and bait, then explore a network of lakes and bays for walleye, lake trout, pike, burbot and whitefish. It's right on the main OFSC trail C108D and is a short drive back to Sudbury for a comfortable bed and a hot meal, so Lake Panache makes a great hybrid destination for sled-access ice fishing trips.

Backcountry Ice Fishing at Shining Tree Camp

For anglers who want deep backcountry energy, Shining Tree Camp sits on the shores of Shining Tree Lake with cabins, bait, fuel and direct access to hundreds of quiet lakes. Classic Ontario mixed species fishing awaits here — including brook trout, splake and more — with snowmobile trails ready for exploring when you’re off the ice. Whether you’re a serious angler or a family looking to disconnect, the camp’s old-school charm and wide-open terrain make it an unforgettable stop.

Saul Outfitters near Matachewan & Kirkland Lake 

The Matachewan and Kirkland Lake area serves up a remote feel with hundreds of nearby lakes ripe for ice fishing. Saul Outfitters (a longtime father-and-son operation) provides access to these lakes and prides itself on high-quality multi-species fishing and trophy potential. Visit the local town of Kirkland Lake for comfortable stays and great meals before hitting the trails or ice. Esker Lakes Provincial Park offer additional freshwater adventure beyond the base lodge area, and don't miss Watabeag Lake for a chance at a giant laker.

Winter Ice Fishing at Horwood Lake Lodge 

About 40 minutes west of Timmins on Highway 101, Horwood Lake Lodge is a long-standing fishing destination on scenic Horwood Lake that supports winter ice fishing for species like northern pike, walleye and other panfish. The lodge offers comfortable lakeside cabins, guided and all-inclusive fishing packages, and access to a vast network of backcountry trails that make ice fishing and snowmobiling easy parts of a winter trip. Locals and guests often explore hundreds of nearby lakes and use snowmobile-rigged ice fishing setups to reach productive pike haunts when the ice is in. Ice, live bait, tackle and fishing regulation information are available on site, and the surrounding region’s trail system connects anglers to additional backcountry ice fishing opportunities.

Ice Fishing in Timmins 

For a more DIY ice fishing experience, Timmins combines town comforts with plenty of nearby options for ice anglers. Lakes like Nighthawk Lake and Frederick House Lake are a short drive from town, and anglers can also target catch-and-release lake sturgeon right in town on the Mattagami River (regulations apply). The main OFSC trail system runs through the area, making snowmobile-to-ice access straightforward.

For a unique off-ice experience, Abitibi Sled Dogs is located just outside Timmins and offers dog sledding adventures. With ample accommodations, restaurants, and supply shops, Timmins is an easy base for anglers who want comfort without sacrificing access to great fishing.

Every February, Chapleau hosts a huge pike ice fishing derby with prizes that draw anglers from across Ontario. With accessible lakes like Chapleau Lake and the Chapleau River, plus plenty of nearby accommodations, this spot is perfect for families or competitive anglers looking for community energy and great pike action.
