Powassan Maple Syrup Festival

Join the municipality of Powassan Saturday, April 23rd in celebrating the purely Canadian treat, that is maple syrup. Sweet doesn't even begin to describe the 19th annual Powassan Maple Syrup Festival.

The day kick’s off with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., and most activities/ entertainment come to an end by 4 p.m.

Activities/ entertainment on Main Street, Powassan include:

  • Horse drawn carriage rides
  • Cooking with maple demonstrations
  • West coast lumberjack show
  • Antique car & tractor show
  • Live musical performances
  • Food & craft vendors

Oh, and the festival has been known to attract famous Canadians, so keep your eye out. Rick Mercer visited the festival in 2013 for a good old fashioned pancake toss (picture below).

And what would a maple syrup festival be without a visit to a local sugar shack? Tours will leave the St. Joseph's Catholic Church parking lot all day. Sounds like a sweet way to spend a spring day in Northeastern Ontario, wouldn't you agree?
