3 Ways to Experience Timmins For Under $25
Summer has arrived in full force and we are all in a rush to take full advantage of our beautiful weather. Northeastern Ontario has many unique experiences to participate in while enjoying our beautiful summers. In the Timmins area there are many inexpensive and free activities to do throughout the summer, so we have compiled a list of fun experiences to take up.
For the artistic at heart, Timmins has a multitude of art exhibitions that are inexpensive to view. The Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Center has a great many inexpensive exhibits throughout the summer. The Hollinger House exhibit is one of them, and will open in July. This exhibit recreates a 1930’s miner’s home and tells a tale of how miners lived throughout that decade. The Downtown Timmins BIA also offers Urban Park from June to September. This includes; Art in the park on Wednesdays, farmers market on Thursdays and live music on Fridays. All of which, are free of charge.   Timmins Wake Board Park is located on Gillies Lake in the heart of the city. Twenty five dollars gets you get a session and full rental of a board, helmet and life vest. Another exciting activity is kayaking and paddle boarding on the Mattagami River. For around $15 you can rent a kayak and paddle the Mattagami River through D&L Docks and Recreation.
For the naturalist, Timmins has it all. The large trail system offers paths for all. There are 10 different trail routes which give hikers premiere opportunities to see picturesque nature scenes from powerful rapids to tranquil fields. Get out and enjoy these beautiful trails because you never know what you may see.
Grassy River and High Falls
High Falls is a beautiful scenic series of rapids and water falls with a total drop of 40 meters. These falls can be discovered by, walking, biking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. The trail length is 24kms round trip and can be used all seasons.

Archie's Rock
Archie's Rock is an interesting geological formation located just outside of Timmins. No scientific data has been collected on this formation but it is believed that the rocks were pushed up from underlying layers of granite. These rocks do not appear to be glacial, but have formed exciting cave like holes that hikers can climb through.

Level of Difficulty: Easy walking but more difficult climbing the rocks at the end

Hersey Lake Conservation Area
This is one of the most extensive trail systems in the Timmins region; this trail has many levels of experience, which makes for a different adventure each time. In the summer there is good swimming at Hersey Lake, and great snowshoeing in the winter.

Level of Difficulty: Easy walking or biking with a few hills
