Snowmobiling at Horseshoe Resort

As a snowmobiling destination located in the Grey Bruce Simcoe region just north of Barrie, Ontario, the picturesque Horseshoe Resort is home to Horseshoe Resort Riding Adventures by Yamaha. Rent sleds, then after a short orientation training course and getting fully outfitted, your guide will escort you on a scenic Ontario snowmobile trails ride. Later, you can go Alpine or Nordic skiing or snow tubing and then luxuriate in The Spa, enjoy fine dining and 1st class lodging at this full facility resort only an hour from the Greater Toronto Area.

Horseshoe Resort is a full service ski resort, so there are always many choices of winter fun for the entire family. Go downhill skiing in the morning and then ride off on a snowmobile for the afternoon. Luxuriate in the spa or make the short drive to Barrie for some shopping at Georgian Mall.

Horseshoe is located in then heart of OFSC District 8, one of Ontario’s primary snowbelts that usually benefits from massive lake effect snow off Georgian Bay for primo snowmobile conditions. To explore District 8, you can access OFSC club trail 422, which connects to TOP Trail B112B. From there, you can ride a day loop along the shore of Lake Simcoe’s Kempenfelt Bay to Orillia, then pick up TOP B on Lake Couchiching to connect with TOP B105C west to Coldwater for fuel and food. From there, grab TOP C west to TOP B205C south. At TOP B, turn right and follow it to the intersection of TOP B112B and turn left back to Club Trail 422. Turn left to return to Horseshoe.

Alternatively, you can ride a northern loop from Horseshoe, leaving again by Club Trail 422 then heading north on the TOP B and C trails to circle up through Midland and back. Or head west off 422 towards Wasaga and Collingwood to climb the Niagara Escarpment.

Whatever your choice, Horseshoe Resort is a great place to stay and District 8 is a great place to go snowmobile trail riding in Ontario!
