Rushing River Provincial Park

Located just SE of Kenora, Rushing River is a popular stopping point. See the whitewater plummet over the rocks. Lots of family and children-oriented activities including a beach, trails, playground, and an interpretive centre.

Located about 20 minutes southeast of Kenora off Highway 71, Rushing River Provincial Park is one of Sunset Country's most popular destinations. The waterfalls where the waters of Dogtooth Lake cascade downward into Blindfold Lake make for a picturesque sight. Most of the time, you can safely splash in the water flowing down the falls. There are also several great beaches within the park where children and adults alike can enjoy a dip in the clear waters. Rushing River Park is definitely a great place to bring the family. The four sandy beaches all have a gentle slope into the water and a roped-off area making them suitable for children.

There's so much to do on the shores of Dogtooth Lake

The park is loaded with outdoorsy things to do. A system of three nature trails provides excellent hiking and you can see wildlife alongside the trails. Make sure you have your camera for that image of a deer, fox or bald eagle.

Rushing River Park also has an Interpretive Centre where you and your kids can learn about the wildlife living in the boreal forest that surrounds you. There are two boat launches in the park. Kayaks and water bikes are available for rent from the Park Office and the North Side Nook for you and your family to enjoy the water and soak up the sun.

Wilderness canoeists rejoice as there are six separate canoe routes that you can access from the park. These range from around 30 kilometers to over 100 kilometers in length. The fishing along the way would be excellent with walleye, bass, and northern pike abundant in the many freshwater lakes you'll paddle across.

Canoes for use on the canoe routes for three days or more may also be rented. Short-term canoe rentals, complete with delivery, are available at the privately operated Rushing River General Store, less than one kilometre south of the park entrance.

Firewood, kindling and souvenirs are sold at the Park office. The North Side Nook sells firewood, kindling, hot and cold beverages and everyone’s favourite cinnamon buns. Rushing River General Store with ice cream, basic groceries, camping supplies and mini-putt is located just down the road from the park entrance on Hwy 71.
