It's Live from the Rock

Three days of outstanding music and family entertainment in early August.

The Live from the Rock Music Festival has become a reason for a road trip to Red Rock, Ontario the second weekend of August. This is where you are sure to enjoy a relaxing weekend listening to folk music on the scenic north shore of Lake Superior.

August 11 -13 are dates for the popular outdoor music event now in its 16th year. Red Rock’s Pull-a-Log Park is the venue for what will be three days of outstanding music and family entertainment

The 2017 lineup for the Festival offers over a variety of artists representing folk and roots, blues, bluegrass, and country! Live from the Rock Folk Festival is one of the most unique music festivals in Northwest Ontario. It is one you won’t want to miss.

Purchase your tickets online in advance, and start planning your weekend to visit Red Rock just a short one hour drive east of Thunder Bay. 

If you are looking for places to stay there are camps sites available on a first come, first serve basis adjacent to the festival grounds. The cost is $20. You must be a ticket holder to purchase a campsite. There are also options for motel and bed and breakfast accommodations in Red Rock and Nipigon.

The Quebec Lodge is a short drive to the Festival grounds, and Nipigon is a close commute with a number of Bed and Breakfast’s and motels to choose from.

Travel by Boat and Stay at the Marina

You can travel by boat and dock at the
Red Rock Marina so you can enjoy the festival on water and on land! Ticket and docking packages are available for those with a maritime passion. The Red Rock Marina has expanded its services and now offers boaters shower, laundry and washroom facilities available in the newly constructed Marina Centre. Both diesel and gas fuel is for sale at the Marina. Call the Red Rock Marina at (807) 886-2126 for more information.

There are other things to do festival weekend. Hike the
Nipigon River Recreation Trail, explore the exhibits in Red Rock’s new Marina Interpretive Centre or bring your clubs and golf the Northshore Golf Club.

PAJU MOUNTAIN RUN

The Paju Mountain Run also takes place on the Saturday of the Festival weekend. The race features an 11.2 km course that takes a 715 ft climb up the Paju Mountain. The run is open to competitive and non-competitive participants with the run/walk starting at 8:30 am and the more competitive race at 9:00 am. Just to experience and complete this course is a rewarding accomplishment.

The Live from the Rock Folk Festival is a full weekend of music, family activities, food, artisans, camping and friendship for everyone to get acquainted with in this picturesque North Shore community that draws its name from the “red rock” landscape that surrounds the town.

Bring a friend and a lawn chair, and come enjoy a wonderful weekend listening to great music on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior in Red Rock.
