The 2018 Sledarama Snowmobile Show
It's been called the best little show in Ontario snowmobiling, and is the biggest one-day retail show in the province. Set in the backdrop of OFSC Districts 2 and 3 and the heart of the Kawarthas, where some truly great snowmobiling takes place, Sledarama has attracted tens of thousands of die-hard sledders over the years.
They'll have hundreds of booths inside and dozens outside with local dealers selling sleds, accessories, and apparel. A big array of local clubs will also be in attendance, giving visitors a chance to chat directly with club members about trail systems, permits, and local snowmobiling, getting information straight from the folks who know the area best.
"I was always involved with snowmobiling, so we started to do this show and found that this is something that people liked," show founder Joe Scollard says. "It grew and grew and grew, and it sure helps build the snowmobiling community. I hope we have a great winter this year."
What to Expect
Aside from racing videos, safety equipment, resorts information, trailer companies, and other resources, there's also a custom and antique "show & shine" sled show, where visitors can vote for their favourite sleds as part of "people's choice" awards. Heading outside, an outdoor flea market features dozens of booths where used sleds, parts, and accessories will be on offer all day.
Sledarama's home-grown, indoor and outdoor grassroots family feel make this a great event for hard-core snowmobile enthusiasts and curiosity seekers alike. Admission is only $7 for adults, and kids under the age of 12 get in free, making this a truly family-friendly event.
Organized by local snowmobilers Joe Scollard with the help of family and friends, the idea behind the event is to provide a fun-filled, low-key place where the snowmobiling community can come together and share their excitement for the trails, sledding and the upcoming season just around the corner.
All in all, Sledarama is a charming and unintimidating local affair, friendly and unpretentious. If seeing old acquaintances, meeting new friends, getting out on the trails on a snowmobile and having a great time doing it is your thing, this could well be the show for you.
According to Scollard, "Once you're a snowmobiler, you love snowmobiling and helping the sport. There are also charities involved that we're helping out, some really good causes. And, out where we ride in the woods, we see some amazing things. Deer, moose… the scenery is beautiful. It's what makes snowmobiling in Ontario so great."
