What is Northern Ontario?

Northern Ontario is a vast and spectacular region made up of vibrant cities, pristine wilderness, and tons of adventure. With more than 250,000 lakes and rivers to paddle, wildlife to photograph, craft beers and burgers (meat and plant-based) to enjoy, and thousands of trails to traverse, it's safe to say you could spend a lifetime here discovering everything it has to offer. With so many things to do, places to explore, and activities to enjoy year-round, it’s a popular destination for travellers from around the world.

The area is divided into four Regional Tourism Organizations:

The Seven—Northeastern Ontario | Algoma Country | Superior Country | Sunset Country

Here's a map of RTO 13a, 13b, and 13c. It's pretty big!

Northern Ontario Travel is Destination Northern Ontario's official digital magazine and covers the entire region, from the Manitoba border to Algonquin Park. It is fun, authoritative, and often has a sense of humour. We steer clear of jargon, consumerism, and elitism, and aim to make our content accessible, informative, and entertaining. Our travel content has a strong sense of place and includes actionable info like: how do I plan a visit here, too? With all our content, we are opening up a world of possibility for would-be travellers and sharing the adventure, excitement, and joy of a trip to Northern Ontario.

Video Content

Send us a link to your reel or TikTok through our submission form, and we'll be in touch for the video file and payment info.

  • overall theme (ie: 5 Fave Ice Cream Spots around Lake Superior; Secret Swimming Holes on Highway 17; POV: Best Beach Day at this Provincial Park; Bucket List Sunrise Hikes)
  • long enough cuts to get a feel for the place & vibe
  • location captions or voice-to-text
  • grammatically correct caption that includes location, and type of adventure/audience
  • Fun! Inspiration! Personality!
  • Related to one of Northern Ontario Travel's content pillars: Culture (ie: arts, culinary, heritage, Indigenous tourism), Nature & Adventure, Touring (road trips, RV, motorcycling), and Fishing / Hunting.

Submit your Video for Consideration

If your video is chosen, we'll be in touch by email to grab the video file and pay you! For every reel we add to our carousel, we'll transfer you $50. Submit as many as you like!
