We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again—fall is the perfect time to take a hike in Northeastern Ontario.

Our region is home to some pretty spectacular, multi-day, backcountry hikes, but in this article we’ve rounded up our best day trips. These hikes are perfect excursions if you’re travelling from one of the numerous communities in Northeastern Ontario, or are in the region visiting family and friends, or exploring scenic fall colour drives.

In some cases, we’ve published in-depth reviews on these hiking trails—keep an eye out for those links for details about the trail, access tips, and difficulty ratings.
