EAT Algoma on Queen Street: Celebrate A Local Food Festival!

Get ready to celebrate local food and farming as downtown hosts EAT Algoma. On Saturday, June 14, RAIN (Rural Agri-Innovation Network) will bring Sault Ste. Marie's first-ever local food festival to Queen Street. The "Farm to Fork" theme will bring country life to the city, and serve as unique opportunity to connect farmers, restaurants and consumers.

Square 1 (East to Brock) will be lined with tents featuring farm-fresh food vendors, live animals and kid's activities. Enjoy live music and a drink under the Festival of Beer tent. The highlight of the event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with Restaurant Food Challenge Competition. Three local restaurants (Embers, Gnarly Bistro and Low & Slow) pair up with 3 local farms (Valleyfield Farm, Collholm Farm and Desbarats County Produce) and compete to create the best pulled pork slider.

Mill Market is located at 35 Canal Drive in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and is open every Wednesday 3pm - 7pm and Saturday 8am - 2pm. Rain or shine, this is a place you want to visit!

Mill Market, Sault Ste. Marie's newest addition to agriculture and set to open in a week's time – is so much more than a Farmers Market. The site contains a soft launch of all the wonderful attractions soon to come to Mill Square in the form of Destination North. Destination North is a not-for-profit project that artfully balances the needs of a tourism venue and a downtown core revitalization by cultivating job-creating social enterprise components.

Mill Market's prime location - on the Waterfront Hub Trail, sharing the road to the Historic Canal and Whitefish Island, neighboring The Casino and Station Mall, and under the gaze of the International Bridge – make it an exciting attraction to visitors and Sauites, alike.

Entomica – an exhibit housed in the Market building's annex – is a place where visitors can discover the fascinating, hidden and often misunderstood world of insects through live interactive displays. Guests will be guided by helpful and knowledgeable staff, whose enthusiasm and love of insects is palpable! John Dedes, leader of the Entomica venture, intones of the project "Insects possess an outstanding ability to create a spark of curiosity that will lead to a passion for lifelong learning and discovery."

Olympic Gold Medalists Team Jacobs will be visiting Mill Market on Saturday June 14th and will be serving premium ice cream at Lily & Claudia's Ice Cream Shoppe with who other than Lily & Claudia! Come and choose from 8 delicious flavours of premium ice cream and get an autograph from the team.

Food trucks are on site serving hot food all day and the vendors have a wide variety of products, food, art and more!
