Paddle Paradise This Summer On A Guided Sea Kayak Or River Adventure

Sea kayak and canoe tours, white-water river trips, wilderness overnight camping, lodge-to-lodge kayaking, kayak instruction, and outfitting!

Based on Lake Superior in Northern Ontario Mike and Colleen Petzold have been operating Caribou Expeditions since 1994. As avid paddlers who have lived in the area for over two decades, they provide sea kayak and canoe tours, white-water river trips, including wilderness overnight camping, lodge-to-lodge kayaking, kayak instruction, and outfitting.

Mike, founder of Caribou Expeditions, has been guiding for over a decade. He has received four-star certification from the British Canoe Union, as well as Instructor Certification from Paddling Canada.

Colleen has guided trips along Lake Superior and the St. Lawrence for the past 12 years. She holds a Four Star British Canoe Union certification.

Additionally, they have experienced outdoors people with decades of paddling experience, and are advanced paddlers with high levels of certification from the BCU and/or Paddling Canada.

Conor Mihell brings Greenland-style paddling to the North Shore of Superior. He is trained as a sea kayak guide and instructor under AECSKO and CRCA.

Bruce Lash is a senior instructor with the British Canoe Union. Bruce has been paddling and instructing for over two decades, and was the former owner of Lake Superior Kayak Adventures.

Caribou Expeditions is a proud member of Paddling Ontario and Paddling Canada.

Sea Kayak Day Trips

Just an hour north of Sault Ste. Marie, Lake Superior offers exceptional coastal kayaking for all skill levels. Caribou Expeditions has created the best experiences of their kind in the area for all skill levels and interests.

Batchawana Island

Sundays, beginning June 24

Paddle the sheltered waters of Batchawana Bay, Lake Superior. Bald eagles, osprey, beaver and mink may be seen along this shore.

Pancake Bay to Mamainse

Wednesdays, Beginning June 28

Clear water, sandy beaches and quiet coves.

Mica Bay to Alona Bay

Sundays and Mondays, beginning July 3

One of the prettiest sections of the southeast coast, Mica Bay and Alona Bay are bordered by steep granite headlands, and peaceful coves.

Pictographs

Thursdays, beginning July 6 (weekends possible)

In the heart of Lake Superior Provincial Park, find yourself facing ancient pictographs of the Ojibway people from the vantage of a kayak.

Goulais River, Algoma

Weekends, May - September

Descending through the densely forested Canadian shield, the Goulais River valley, offers a leisurely canoeing day trip on mild current, interrupted at times by several rapids.
