Why Your OFSC Permit Matters
Managing 25,500 km of Ontario’s curated snowmobile trail network is no small feat. Even with more than $16 million in volunteer labour annually, the costs keep climbing:
- Over the last 5 years, expenses have risen 52% (from $17.8M in 2021 to $27.1M in 2025).
- In just the last 3 seasons, the OFSC has invested $61.6M into trails, grooming, infrastructure, and equipment.
- Clubs groomed 758,000 km of trail last winter—the equivalent of circling the Earth nearly 19 times!
Permit revenue is what makes this all possible.
What’s New for 2025/2026
- Permit fees remain frozen at last year’s prices—but your early commitment is critical to keeping those trails up.
- Trail network capped at 25,500 km: fewer underused trails, more focus on quality and connectivity.
- Smarter grooming operations: better coordination across the province to ensure consistent riding conditions wherever you go.
How You Can Help
- Buy your permit early and encourage your friends to do the same.
- Support your local club through volunteering or fundraising events.
- Respect the trails and landowners—preserving access for the future.
- Share your story about what snowmobiling means to you.
See you on the trails!
