Larry Berrio’s Done a Ton of Snowmobiling So Far This Winter. Here’s Where He Rode, Stayed, and Fuelled Up.

The snow is plentiful (finally). The OFSC trails are groomed and open for business. All that's left to do is...ride. We caught up with one of Northern Ontario's avid snowmobilers (and country music stars) to talk about his adventures so far this season. 

You’re an avid snowmobiler based in Sudbury. What rides have you done this year?

So far this year, I did a run from Val Caron to Cartier. I enjoyed fish and chips at Kelly's Family Diner. I rode a few times locally north of Capreol. We love hitting up Firehouse Restaurant to fuel up—they've got the best poutine in Sudbury.

Last year we didn't get much snow. What are the trail conditions like now in February 2025?

So far the snow is getting better and better, the trails in the Sudbury area are in really good shape.

Where’d you stay on your overnight trips?

Our overnight ride included a stop for a buffet breakfast at Hiawatha's on Lake Wahnapetei then off to Auld Reekie Lodge on Lake Gowganda. The food and hospitality is over the top. We enjoyed a beautiful steak dinner, baked potatoes which was so delicious with an amazing breakfast the following morning before we hit the trails.

• Registration on Saturday, February 22nd at Overtime Bar in Chelmsford.

Get your first two cards and enjoy breakfast which is included in your fee. (If you can't make it to Overtime for registration, you can get ALL your cards when you get to Killarney)

We will have my truck and trailer at Overtime so you can put all your overnight bags in the trailer to save some room on your sled. It will be onsite in Killarney before you arrive to retrieve your stuff.

Overtime breakfast and registration from 8:30 - 10:00 am. Leave on your own or with a group at any time after breakfast, there is no set time for everyone to leave at the same time.

• You leave behind Overtime, head north as it will come around to the south and cross the highway at the set of lights across from Tim Hortons.

• The entire ride is 153 km, so you will have enough fuel regardless of what you are riding. Make sure to have a full tank and refuel in Killarney.

• Once there, you can check in at the Killarney Mountain Lodge.

• Cocktail hour will run from 5:00 - 6:00 then dinner to follow at the Canada House. We will then announce the winner of the $1000 cash prize for the best poker hand, sponsored by Urban Windows and Doors.

We will have a live auction for prizes, a nice slide show, videos to enjoy while you eat then a LIVE concert with me, Larry Berrio, and my band to take in the night. It's one of the best Poker Runs in Ontario. 15 years running all in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sudbury.
