10 Places You'd Rather Be Right Now

You're sitting at your desk on hump day, thinking "I'd rather be somewhere else". As I was writing this article, I was thinking the exact same thing. It's sunny and just about 70F (20C) outside. I was looking at these photos and really wishing I could get out into the wilderness I call home rather than in this office. Once you get a look at these photos, I'm sure you'll agree.

Here are 10 places I'd rather be right now than at my desk. 

Sandy Beach on Lake of the Woods

Guests at Tomahawk Resort take a leisurely boat ride to this secluded beach on Lake of the Woods for a swim. With the water being below normal this year, there will be many great beaches on the lake this year. 

Sitting on This Deck Overlooking Eagle Lake

Grab a cold drink and sit out on this desk at the Loon's Nest Chalet at Cedar Point Lodge on Eagle Lake in Vermilion Bay, Ontario, Canada. Whether it's your morning coffee, an afternoon bevy or eating your dinner lakeside, I'm pretty sure you'd be happy here. 

Enjoying a Bird's Eye View of All the Lakes in Northwest Ontario

You can't really grasp just how many lakes are in Ontario's Sunset Country until you see it from above. You can take a float plane ride to a remote outpost cabin or lodge or just go flight-seeing for an hour. It's truly an impressive sight. This float plane is headed to one of True North Outpost & Cabins' remote outposts.

Watching the Sun Set Over a Canadian Lake

Really, I can't think of a better place to watch a sunset than from your boat or lakeside cabin in Canada. Probably the only thing that would beat it, would be knowing that your child gets to experience the same thing. I'm pretty sure this boy at Rainbow Point Lodge would rank this as one of his better days. 

Sitting on This Beach on Lake St. Joseph

When it comes down to it, I'd like to be anywhere in this photo: on the beach, swimming in the water, staying in a lakeside cabin, or out fishing on the water! Guests at Old Post Lodge are doing any of those right now! 

Reeling in a Trophy Walleye

Walleye season is open in Ontario! This could be you holding a trophy walleye or you could be keeping a few smaller ones for shore lunch! Visit Birch Dale Lodge on Eagle Lake for some awesome fishing this summer. 

Watching the Sun Set at a Remote Outpost Camp

I know, I know, another sunset! But each one is different and truly amazing. Imagine yourself in the remote Canadian wilderness at a cabin with just you and your buddies. You've had a great day on the lake, had freshly caught walleye for supper, and then relax with a Canadian beer to watch the sunset all the while listening to the loons call out. Sign me up! On This Island Paradise!

Who needs the Maldives? Booi's Fly-in Lodge and Outpost on Trout Lake looks like paradise to me! Fly into this island north of Red Lake and stay at a lakeside cabin.  

Exploring Whitewater Lake

Wilderness North has 5 cottages tucked beside the rushing waters of the Ogoki River. It's a great starting point to explore the wilderness of Wabakimi by canoe or by boat. Located on the western end of Whitewater Lake, in the heart of Wabakimi Provincial Park, Whitewater Lodge is home to some of the best angling and fly-in adventures in all of Canada. 

Sitting in Your Desk in a Bustling City or in this Rocking Chair by the Lake 

Hmmmm. It would be an easy decision for me. I think this chair at Peffley's Canadian Wilderness Camp on Wabaskang Lake is a perfect place to hang out.
