In the early 1900’s, farmers in the west end of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario started the Algoma Farmers’ Market. Old farming names such as Wilding and Edwards are still at the market today along with other farms from all over the Algoma District to provide residents and tourists with fresh, locally grown vegetables, maple syrup, honey and various meats. Many of the current farmers’ at the market have been selling vegetables and goods for over thirty years.

The Algoma Farmers’ Market offers a true farmers’ market experience where the produce comes from the field to you, sold by the farmer. It is a unique chance to chat with the people who work hard to bring you quality goods that are well worth the trip. In addition, when you buy local produce your support goes directly to the farmers and their families to create a stronger local food marketplace where the consumers and the growers are intimately acquainted.
