Doing the Champlain on 2

Pamela Collins spends a couple of fun-filled days as part of a women motorcycle journalists press event in the Ottawa Valley region of Ontario, riding and enjoying the local attractions. She's written a feature article on her time here for Backroads Magazine. Readers can view the entire article on page 53 of the January issue of Backroads Magazine.
Their route followed what has come to be referred to as the "Champlain Trail," following some of the route of the legendary explorer of Canada's wilderness in the time before much of the land was settled by Europeans. In her article, Pamela mentions that "This oldest settled region wants motorcyclists to know they're more than welcome here." And, of course, she's right.
Ontario has recently invested in an Online Trip Planner to allow motorcyclists visiting the province to see the best routes and choose a recommended itinerary, including everything from gas stations and hotels to roadside attractions and restaurants. This takes a lot of the guess work out of planning your long distance trip in Ontario. Gone are the days of wondering about road condition or gas stops. Each route has been verified by members of Ontario's motorcycle division, including the Ultimate Northern Ontario Road Trip (UNORT.) The UNORT riders spend their entire summer roaming the province checking the condition of every road, restaurant, roadside attaction and more, ensuring they're ready for motorcyclists. But for now check out some of the roads in the region below, and get ready to ride!
