Favourite Marinas and Boat Launches in Northeastern Ontario

(As chosen by you!)

Some may think a day of fishing is the only reason to visit a boat launch in Northeastern Ontario, but in many cases its a sense of exploration or love of food (yes, food) that draws people to these lakeside 'hubs'.

We asked Facebook fans and discussion board members their picks for the best boat launches in Northeastern Ontario. Here's a list of fan favourites that will surely float your boat:

Larder Lake - Municipal Marina

Commissioner St & 9 Ave
Larder Lake, ON

The marina is located on the shores of the Northeastern Ontario community, Larder Lake. It has to be the fish in the lake, and the friendly people in town that keep visitors coming back to park their boat year after year. Fans recommend a visit to Larder Sports and Marine for gas, live bait, fishing/camping supplies, and even a low-down on fishing hot-spots.

Minisinakwa Lake - Gogama Municipal Boat Launch

Poupore St.,
Gogama, ON  P0M 1W0

Another warf that's located in a small Northeastern Ontario town; Gogama Municipal Boat Launch is close to amenities, and has easy access to Minisnakwa Lake. The Ojibway meaning of Gogama is 'Jumping Fish'. The name was no doubt inspired by the nearby waters of Minisnakwa Lake, which is plentiful in pike and pickerel.

Lake Temiskaming - New Liskeard Municipal Marina

199 Riverside Dr
New Liskeard, ON

It's easy to see why New Liskeard's Municipal Marina made the it list. It's a large full service marina located on Wabi Bay of Lake Temiskaming, which is a launch point for amazing scenes like Devils Rock (pictured below). It's also a part of the Ottawa River Tour, making a voyage from Petawawa to New Liskeard possible since 1611 (Thank you, Samuel de Champlain).

Lake Nipissing West Arm - Sucker Creek Boat Launch

Sucker Creek Rd,
French River, ON

This was the preferred boat launch on Lake Nipissing West Arm among fishermen. It's located in a sheltered area of the bay, and has a raised pier with a ramp as well as wooden walls to tie off on. Fans also pointed out that there was plenty of parking. The lake is known for pike, musky and pickerel. Put simply, it's a beauty to explore.

Georgian Bay - Killarney Channel Marina

23 Channel St
Killarney, ON

Even if you're a captain without a vessel, Killarney's Channel Marina has a way of making you feel as if you're one of the seafaring few. If you're not jetting off to explore Georgian Bay, stay for the turquoise waters and iconic pines, or the relaxed board walk along the shore. One things for certain, a stop in Killarney is not complete without trying Herberts fish & chips.
