1. Parker House Suites

Parker House Suites offers three charming rooms within walking distance of downtown Sudbury’s dining and shopping. Dating back to the 1920s, Parker House is set in one of the oldest buildings in the city, making this accommodation a particularly wonderful choice for history buffs. The building’s century-old details are balanced by modern touches like keyless entry, Wi-Fi, and HD TV. Guests can stroll to Sudbury’s many excellent restaurants or those who prefer to stay in and avoid the wintery weather can cook in the well-equipped kitchenettes found in each suite. Opt for the Alder Suite, which includes a bathroom with jetted Jacuzzi tub, or the Studio Suite, which is decorated with a lovely fireplace.

2. Sportsman's Lodge Wilderness Resort

Lakefront living with private cottages, Sportsman's Lodge Wilderness Resort is the perfect base for all your winter activities.

Perched on picturesque Kukagami Lake, Sportsman’s Lodge Wilderness Resort offers a back-to-nature hideaway surrounded by over 5 acres of pine, birch, maple, and spruce trees. Guests can choose to stay in the main lodge, a three-story pine building with 13 guest rooms and a comfy common area; or step up the home-away-from-home ambiance in one of the private cottages, which feature living rooms and kitchens with fridges and stoves. The surrounding area offers prime conditions for days spent cross country skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing, after which guests can warm up with a homestyle meal in the onsite dining room.

3. Hartman House

Delicious homemade breakfasts await guests at the Hartman House, former home of Grace Hartman.

Set in the former home of notable local activist and politician Grace Hartman, Hartman House offers two cheerful rooms and daily house-made breakfasts. Rooms feature quaint antique furniture and his-and-hers bathrobes, with the George Room also including its own electric fireplace. Guests can also cozy up by the fireplace located in the comfortable shared common area, or bundle up for a scenic wintery walk along the nearby Bell Park Walkway overlooking Ramsay Lake.

4. Auberge du Village

Auberge du Village’s old-world-style suites are perfect for a romantic getaway in Sudbury. Guests are greeted with a free bottle of wine when checking in to one of the guesthouse’s two suites, both of which include cushy king-size beds and welcoming fireplaces. The Campagne Suite kicks the coziness up a notch with a bathroom that features a large soaking tub, along with a reading nook where guests can while away the afternoon. Fitness packages give guests access to the nearby YMCA Center For Life to enjoy the steam sauna or take a yoga class.

5. Agnew Lake Lodge

An ice fishing paradise, Agnew Lake Lodge also offers an eight-person hot tub to warm up after a long day adventuring.

Experience a wintery lakeside getaway at family-owned Agnew Lake Lodge, which offers 15 cabins with full kitchens. Woodstoves and electric heat make these homey cabins ideal retreats for unwinding and admiring the snowy views of Agnew Lake. An 8-person outdoor hot tub onsite allows guests to warm up while still enjoying the fresh air and beautiful lakefront views. During the day, guests can take advantage of nearby snowmobiling trails and ice fishing opportunities or head to Boogie Mountain Ski Hill, which is located about a 20-minute drive away, for downhill skiing.

6. Copper Kettle Guesthouse

Spacious suites in a historic building offer a beautiful getaway just 10 minutes from downtown.

7. Fox Lake Lodge

The Osprey Cabin, with locally made cabinetry by La Cuisine Kitchen Cabinets.

Disconnect and get some much-needed offline time at Fox Lake Lodge, which offers intentionally “off-the-grid” cabins set amid the landscape of the Canadian Shield. The lodge’s eight peaceful cabins can accommodate between two to nine guests and feature pretty views of Fox Lake. TVs, phones, and Wi-Fi are purposefully absent to allow guests to better connect with the natural environment. Guests can curl up with a book, explore the scenic surroundings, or chill out in the onsite hot tub and sauna.

8. The Hacienda Bed and Breakfast

The renovated King Suite is available at Hacienda Bed and Breakfast.

Escape to a Spanish-influenced refuge at the Hacienda Bed and Breakfast. Wooden beams, wrought iron accents, and colourful decor aim to recreate the feeling of a Spanish or Mexican hacienda transported to Ontario. Guests can choose from a double, queen, or king room, all of which come with smart TVs and fluffy bathrobes. Room rates include homemade breakfasts, which focus on fresh baked goods and local ingredients, including veggies and herbs sourced from the owner’s garden.
