What's the Schedule for the Kap Kraze Country Derby?

Friday, July 25: Tailgate Party, DJ Johnny Rivex & Fireworks

Large inflatable bouncy castles are in the background. kids take turns at throwing large washers into gameboards in a Washers tournament at Kap Kraze in Kapuskasing. fireworks explode in the night sky over a sea of parked cars at the Kap Kraze Derby.

The weekend kicks off with a bang (literally) at the Derby Fairgrounds across from the Sports Palace. Starting at 5 pm, the Tailgate Party brings the community (and visitors from far and wide) together with:

  • A bustling food & vendor market loaded with local eats and handmade goods
  • Kids’ inflatables & games (5–9 pm)
  • The all-new Gellyball arena (think paintball without the bruises)
  • A buckin’ good time with JED the Mechanical Bull
  • Smash stress (and plates!) in the epic Wreck Room

Want more action? Check out the derby car showcase, meet the drivers, and catch Part 1 of the Washer Tournament at 6 pm.

As the sun sets, Kapuskasing’s own Corey Olford brings the stage to life before Canada’s top country DJ, Johnny Rivex, keeps the beats pumping until 1 am. And be sure not to miss the 10:30 pm fireworks show—a sparkling sky-high celebration you’ll be talking about all year.

Two men wearing cowboy hats and plaid shirts smile as they hold up drinks. They are standing next to a DJ table while coloured spotlights stream down in the background.
Live music and country DJ Johnny Rivex keep the party going all evening long at Kap Kraze 2025.

Saturday, July 26: Derby Day Mayhem + Country Music Magic

Bright and early, the main event kicks off. From 9 am to 5:30 pm, it’s all engines go as Edge Motorsports presents the Kap Kraze Demolition Derby, featuring seven intense categories:

  • Women’s Bone Stock
  • Youth Bone Stock
  • Junk Run
  • Men’s Bone Stock
  • ½ Ton Truck
  • ¾ to 1-Ton Truck
  • Demo Cross

But that’s not all! The Power Wheels Competition, Inflatable Costume Race, Part 2 of the Washer Tournament, and our family-friendly marketplace and beer garden make it a full day of smash-tastic fun.

a driver in a helmet stands next to their smashed up derby car, hands raised above their head and cheering while the crowd in the stands looks on. children driving powerwheels cars drive around a dirt ring at the fairgrounds, holding their own mini-derby.

Then, it’s time to throw on your boots and head to the Kapuskasing Sports Palace for the Country Concert of the summer! The night kicks off with a boot-scootin' line dance party hosted by The Urban Cowboy, followed by electric performances from:

  • Ryan Langdon: Niagara’s bold, booming country star with serious swagger
  • The Road Hammers: Canada’s undisputed kings of country rock, bringing the thunder

Cap it all off with an after-party with DJ Johnny Rivex back on deck until 1 am. Two nights, one unforgettable weekend. You in?

Meet the Stars: The Road Hammers and Ryan Langdon

The Road Hammers; a band of 3 men wearing sunglasses, cowboy hats and denim pose dramatically with their guitars, looking down at the camera, in front of a moody grey outdoor background. Ryan Langdon poses with arms folded casually, a confident and friendly smile on his face, next to an acoustic guitar case covered in large travel stickers.
The Road Hammers (left) and Ryan Langdon heat things up with live music at Kap Kraze 2025.

The Road Hammers are pure horsepower. This Juno-winning trio blends southern rock grit with country soul, delivering anthems like “Mud” and “I’m a Road Hammer” that are built to shake the walls. Their high-octane sound and larger-than-life stage presence are perfectly tuned for a night of adrenaline and amplified energy inside the Kapuskasing Sports Palace. Get ready—they’re bringing the thunder indoors!

Ryan Langdon delivers pure fire with a voice as big as the backroads. With hits like “Lit in the Sticks” and “Country Like You,” he’s lighting up the Canadian country scene—and he’s ready to ignite the stage in Kap.
