So, get your RV rigs going and load up your trusty ATVs, let's hit the road on the ultimate RV camping ATV adventure!
Mattawa River Resort Campground: RV Camping Close to Mattawa’s VMUTS Trails
Our first choice for RV Campers who wish to ATV is found on the shores of the fabled Mattawa River. The Mattawa River Resort Campground is just outside of Mattawa, located in Ontario’s ‘near north’ and prides itself on water access. This newly built RV Park on the resort property boasts 150 sites with a little something for everyone. The new Cardinal Campground includes the almost popular Cardinal Restaurant located onsite. ATV Campers can enjoy a wonderful home-cooked meal before heading out on the trails. Cardinal RVers will also enjoy luxury-size sites offering 50-amp service, full water and septic hookup and room for up to 40-foot rigs. What’s the best part about the Cardinal campground, though? Its proximity to perhaps the best ATV trail system in all of Ontario, virtually at their doorstep: the Voyageur Multiuse Trail System (VMUTS)
The Voyageur Multiuse Trail System (VMUTS)
The famous Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System is just a stone’s throw from Cardinal camping and offers perhaps the best ATV trails anywhere in the province. The trail system runs between the Algonquin Highlands and the Laurentian Mountains. This fabulous trail system incorporates old logging roads, forest paths and open fields and every part of the network is clearly marked with ATVer skillset mind, identifying levels of difficulty.
Take note that Mattawa-area townships passed an ATV-friendly by-law, allowing riders the ability to carry passengers on their machines while travelling the trail system. Most other areas of the province do not allow passengers, making this region a great option for family rides!
Big Water Campground: Off-Grid RV Camping and ATV Trails Near Timmins
The next stop on our ATV RV adventure is Big Water Campground, located just north of Timmins, offering ATV RVers a true off-grid experience. An enthusiast’s dream spot, this campground boasts a multitude of trails to whet anyone’s off-roading appetite for adventure. Bring your licensed ATV and enjoy the surroundings of Big Water Campgrounds. Management always encourages safety on the trails and requires necessary off-road equipment and licenses to use the linked trails system. This Timmins-area ATV RV option is the perfect combo spot for off-road enthusiasts and RVers alike.
Booth Landing Camping: Lakeside RV Sites and ATV Trails Near North Bay
Booth Landing Camping, located in the Powassan area, is an ideal spot with fabulous RV sites featuring 30-amp hookups on Wasi Lake, offering direct access from your RV site to multiple ATV trails through Chisholm and Boulter Townships. The campground offers beautiful lakeside RV camping just 30 km south of North Bay, with full hookup sites and all the amenities of home. The ATV trails linked to Booth Landing feature old logging roads and scenic viewpoints, offering a rare glimpse into northeastern Ontario’s rugged landscape. Much of the ATV trail system includes the historic Algonquin railbed, offering a glimpse into Ontario’s logging past. With access to these trails right from your campsite, RV ATV riders are in heaven.
Parry Sound KOA: Full-Service RV Camping With Direct ATV Trail Access
The Parry Sound KOA in Sequin Township, near Georgian Bay, not only offers full-service RV sites with pull‐through option, full hook‐up and quality facilities, but there are ATV trails linked directly to the campground for the easiest of access. ATV trail permits are sold onsite, and you can drive your quad offsite easily. Nestled in Ontario’s scenic wilderness, the Parry Sound KOA offers clean facilities and reliable KOA service with easy access to hiking trails, lakes, and local attractions. The campground is praised for its peaceful environment and family-friendly atmosphere, but I feel its ATV accessibility is its greatest asset.
Edgewater Park RVing: RV Camping and ATV Trails in the Almaguin Highlands
RV enthusiasts who also enjoy ATV tours are right at home at Edgewater Park Lodge, found in a beautiful region of Ontario. Edgewater is in the Almaguin Highlands, one of Ontario’s best-kept secrets, and a prime location for RVers who seek a ‘quad adventure’. This resort benefits from its proximity to hundreds of miles of wilderness ATV trails. The region boasts mostly wilderness off-roading with trails located off the beaten path on Crown land. After a day of riding, return to your RV at one of Edgewater’s many full hookup campsites. Those who’ve yet to visit the Almaguin Highlands should check it out. Found on the edge of Algonquin Park, this region offers more than RV and ATV opportunities—small towns, local artisans, hiking and canoeing are just some of the other activities available in this region.
