Top RV Campgrounds for Fishing in Northern Ontario

Looking to combine RV camping with great fishing? These campgrounds offer easy access to lakes and rivers known for bass, trout, muskie, and more.

RV camping and fishing in Northern Ontario is the ultimate outdoor pairing, in my opinion. But don’t just take my word for it; countless other visitors have witnessed lakes and rivers offer world-class fishing, while scenic, waterfront RV campgrounds provide a comfortable home base. Travelling by RV offers the convenience of exploring remote areas at your own pace, waking up steps from a prime honey hole fishing spot. Peaceful mornings casting a line and evenings by the campfire create a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.

For enthusiasts who enjoy both RV camping and fishing on the same adventure, let's check out what we consider to be 5 of the best RV campgrounds for the avid anglers.

Algonquin Park Rock Lake Campground: RV Camping Near Bass, Pike and Trout Fishing

Our first pick in the top campgrounds for anglers is an obvious choice, with Algonquin Park. With over 2400 fishable lakes and 1200 km of streams and rivers, Algonquin truly is a fishing mecca for the avid angler. Known for its wilderness camping, the park also offers anglers excellent RV options. The scenic Rock Lake Campground offers excellent 30-Amp electrical hookups on beautiful, wooded sites, just a short walk to the lake, where anglers can launch a small boat or canoe. Rock Lake is well-named for its abundance of exposed bedrock and limestone, offering a beautifully rugged glimpse into this unique corner of Algonquin Park. Rock Lake also has great fishing for smallmouth bass and northern pike during the summer months, while the lake trout and brook trout opportunities are excellent in the spring and early fall.

Other great RV camping in Algonquin is found at Pog Lake, Canisbay Lake and Lake of Two Rivers, all offering suitable RV campsites and excellent fishing as well.

Restoule Provincial Park: RV Camping, Boat Launches and Ample Fishing on the Restoule River

Our next pick in the top 5 RV campgrounds for anglers is Restoule Provincial Park, the spot where explorer Samuel de Champlain made his first voyage back in 1651, and he and his crew consumed an abundance of fish. Known for its access to Stormy Lake, Clear Lake and the Restoule River, Restoule is a perfect spot for RVers who enjoy fishing. Restoule Provincial Park is made up of 3 camping areas—Putts Point, Bells Point and Kettle Point campgrounds. Kettle Point Campground is beautifully wooded and private, great for RVers with larger rigs, with its 97 hookup campsites. Anglers with larger rigs will be pleased with two separate boat launches on-site, providing access to Stormy Lake and Restoule Lake right from their RV. Docks for mooring your boat are also available in the Putts, Kettle, and Bells Campgrounds.

Anglers should pack their heavy equipment, as Restoule Lake and the river are known for excellent muskie fishing from late June to December!

Spanish River Resort & Campground: RV Camping and Fishing on the Spanish River

Another top RV campground for anglers is Spanish River Resort & Campground in Spanish, Ontario. Here, camping and fishing go together like a rod and reel. Located along the shore of Lake Huron, near the mouth of the famous Spanish River and the North Channel, this family-run resort offers lake view and lakeside sites, with RV, trailer, cabin, bunkie and tent options available.

RV anglers will like the 15, 30 and 50-amp power options, drinkable water hookups, hot showers, WiFi, fish cleaning station, boat launch, boat slips, private beach and dock fishing right on-site. Better yet, anglers can cast for walleye, smallmouth bass, pike, muskie and more right from the docks. With boat ramp access to the Spanish River, North Channel, Little Current and even Georgian Bay, anglers can fish both Zones 10 and 14 from one unique camp. Add in free kayak or canoe rentals for guests staying three nights or longer and a kids’ play area, and Spanish River Resort & Campground fits the bill nicely for families and serious RV anglers.

Sault Ste Marie KOA Holiday: RV Camping Near St. Marys River Salmon, Steelhead and Muskie Fishing

Our next RV campground for anglers is the Sault Ste Marie KOA—a multi-award-winning campground nestled in the boreal forests of Northern Ontario, host to hundreds of RV anglers each year. With free WIFI, heated pool, large sites with full luxury hookup, this wooded 4-acre landscaped RV park offers deluxe patio RV sites with pull-through’s and back-ins available. RVs up to 100 feet in length are accepted, and this RV campground boasts a nearly 5 Star user rating based on camper feedback, an indication of the highest level of satisfaction. The Sault Ste Marie KOA Holiday is conveniently located a short distance from the famous St Mary’s River, a virtual angler's paradise. Famous for its seasonal salmon and steelhead runs, the river boasts excellent chinook, coho and Atlantic salmon fishing, as well as Steelhead and the lesser-known muskie fishing during summer months. RV campers here are well-positioned to enjoy world-class angling as well!

Lazy Rock Campground Mattawa, Mattawa: Lakeside RV Camping for Bass Fishing on Taggart Lake

Finally, in our Top 5 RV campgrounds for angling enthusiasts is the Lazy Rock Campground near Mattawa. This super highly rated campground boasts dozens of happy visitors who love the accommodations and extra pampering included, plus it is positioned perfectly for the avid angler. Lazy Rock offers luxurious lakeside camping with pull-thru sites, 30-amp electrical hookup and clear potable water. Bass anglers will be in glory on Taggart Lake with its premier largemouth bass fishing, right from your campsite. Taggart receives minimal fishing pressure due to its location at the campground and produces excellent largemouth bass catches each summer. RV anglers with boats are just a short distance from the junction of the Mattawa and Ottawa rivers for more fabulous angling opportunities. Big Joe Mufferaw tells me the fishing has been excellent this summer!
