The Best Ontario RV Sites For Boating

Powerboating and RVing in Ontario offer travellers an easy way to escape into nature. With thousands of pristine lakes and waterways, boating lets you race across sparkling waters, feeling the northern air rush by. Meanwhile, RV enthusiasts are right at home in some of the most scenic campgrounds in the entire country. The two activities together offer enthusiasts the best of both worlds and the ultimate vacation combo with Ontario offering the ideal destination for those seeking excitement and tranquility. For enthusiasts who enjoy both camping and boating on the same adventure, here are some awesome lodging options.
First Combo Pitstop: Stillwater Park Campground
Stillwater Park Campground, conveniently located just off the Trans-Canada in Nipigon, a few minutes from downtown Nipigon, is our first RV and boating stop. Stillwater offers all the RV/boating combo essentials at the gateway to the great outdoors, providing RV enthusiasts with 45 campsites, including some magnificent waterfront sites along Stillwater Creek, and 21 spots specifically designed for RVs. The larger rig sites offer 30/50 Amp services, with 12 pull-throughs, and nine catering to large slide-out rigs, plus 11 others with electric and water. The best part about Stillwater Park is its location, a stone’s throw from awesome Lake Nipigon. Powerboating enthusiasts can hit the water in no time, and large boat launches are available. What an awesome one-two punch.
Second Stop: Restoule Provincial Park

Our next stop is Restoule Provincial Park, where explorer Samuel de Champlain made his first visit to this region in 1651, beginning an era of European settlement. Known for its access to waterways including Stormy Lake, Clear Lake and the Restoule River, the park is a perfect locale for RVers and boaters alike. Restoule Provincial Park offers 3 camping areas—Putts Point, Bells Point, and Kettle Point campgrounds. Kettle Point Campground is beautifully wooded and private, great for RVers with larger rigs, and it has 97 hookup campsites. Boating enthusiasts will be pleased with the two separate boat launches on-site, providing access to Stormy Lake and Restoule Lake right from the campground. Docks for mooring your boat are available in the Putts, Kettle, and Bells Campgrounds on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Third Stop: Marten River Provincial Park

The next location perfect for camping and boating is Marten River Provincial Park, which offers clean and spacious sites accommodating larger trailers/RVs. The park has 193 campsites in total, with 105 offering electrical hookups spread out in two separate campgrounds—Chicot and Assinika. When I stayed here, my campsite was a short distance from the lake on the Chicot side, close to the beach and boat launch, which is perfect for powerboaters. There’s also another launch on the Assinka side, giving powerboating enthusiasts access to the expansive Marten River system. If you enjoy both RVing and boating, Marten River Provincial Park is the place to be!
Fourth Stop: Sturgeon Falls KOA Holiday

Our next RV and powerboating stop on the mighty Sturgeon River, a stone’s throw from Ontario’s famous Lake Nipissing, is the Sturgeon Falls KOA Holiday campground. Owned by Greg & Gina Demers, this KOA is the place to be for RVing and powerboating enthusiasts. With enthusiastic reviews from fellow RVers and boaters, Sturgeon Falls KOA has all their bases covered in both regards. Boating, fishing and kayaking are available right at your campsite, along the mighty Sturgeon River. Take your pontoon or other powerboat out for a quick cruise right from the campground, or enjoy the 80-foot dock with a slide into the water. This KOA is ‘big-rig friendly’ with 60-foot camping pads and 30-50 amp pull-through RV Sites up to 110 feet in length. Every site offers full service with water, sewer, and power. Powerboaters will also appreciate the 50-slip marina located in the middle of the campground. Bring your own watercraft or rent one onsite. It doesn’t get any better than this for RV and boating lovers.
Final Stop: Batman’s Cottage & Campground, Manitoulin Island

Our final combo stop is on beautiful Manitoulin Island and the popular Batman’s Cottage and Campground, an awesome locale custom-made for both RVing and boating enthusiasts. This amazing spot was founded by Ralph Batman (hence the name) in 1969 as a family-operated business. The current owners continue to offer great camping and RVing on Sunset Beach with convenient boating access to Sheguiandah Bay. Batman boasts breathtaking sunrise views of the La Cloche Mountains and offers 142 fully serviced 30/50 amp pull-through camping sites in the splendor of magnificent Manitoulin Island. Boaters will appreciate the onsite boat launch and available docking space right on the Batman property. Not only is the park ideal for RVing and boating, but it’s also a National Historic Site of Canada.
